Not everyone can or should wear leggings or shorts .
If your clothes are too tight then get a size bigger, they will make the world of difference to how you look and feel.
When wearing jeans, if you have big bum/thighs, try to get some that are lighter across the front of your thigh rather than one solid block. This will have the effect of slimming your legs. Team with a bootcut or flare and they look slimmer still .
If you're going to wear sandals, look after your toes. I don't want to see your fungal nail infection in all its glory .
If you are struggling with wobbly bits then a more structured material like cotton will not show your muffin top etc. I have a couple of wrap tops which I'm now going to ebay as I just can't get them to fall right.
Take good care of your shoes and they will last longer. Try to buy leather.
Can't think of anything else at the moment. Some people need to spend a bit more time on their own character and a bit less time ripping everyone else to shreds...no amount of style can compensate for a mean spirit and slagging off other people doesn't actually make you look any better...0

My Number one tip is If you cant see your toes when you stand up !!!!!! dont wear leggings.Who I am is not important. What I do is.0

A lined skirts are flattering on pear shapes, both dresses and skirts as they skim over the hips and bum. Avoid wearing pencil skirts! I have a really annoying post pregnancy figure, flabby tummy and pear shaped, only a size 12 so no other problem areas. I now find everything that used to flatter me now looks awful because of the tummy. Plus have hardly any money to spend on buying a new wardrobe. Can anyone make suggestions (not sit-ups though!)0

I was making observations of what I have seen when I am out and about. To be honest I would rather someone, close friend/partner told me if what I was wearing looked terrible.
I think there are some women and men who just don't have much of a clue when its comes down to what suits them. There are lovely items of clothing that I see when I am out shopping, but I know that will not suit me, there is no point in kidding yourself.
At the end of the day that is what GOK does, he transforms people, not only on the outside, but they all have so much confidence in themselves after the makeover.0 -

Do you know something? I shouldnt really be commenting on this thread because I HATE that man!
It tickles me that on his 'fashion FIX' programme he 'wins' every week, when in reality hes sending second rate, over accessorised tat down the catwalk. His 'tips' for customising clothes are weak and sloppy, and his 'default' seems to be 'stick em in a long top and wide trousers'....
Grrrrrrr...... He gets on my tits....You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....
*I have done reading too*
*I have done geography as well*0 -
What do you think is best if you have put on a few pounds around the hip/belly area, a nice all-in-one swimming costume, or bikini but have a sarong close at hand.
I felt quite conscious of it the last time I went on holiday, but did notice I am not the only one with a few extra tyresso should I care.

My top tip is dont buy clothes in any of the following situations
1. when feeling fat
2. when feeling old
3. when you know its time for a hair cut (or some other thing, one negative thing about my appearance takes all of the enjoyment out of shopping)
4. when hot and sweaty - not nice for trying on clothes and hot and flushed is even worse under changing room lights
5. when you are settling for second best - i.e. when you cant find the perfect top you saw two weeks ago
6. if you might wear it one day
7. if your daughter/mum/auntie/grandma wore one last week
8. if you notice loose threads or buttons hanging off - unless you religiously mend your clothes you know it will just stay in the bottom of the wardrobe
9. because you have the same top in 5 different colours (try being more adventurous)
10. if its shorter than you would let your teenager (hypathetical or real) out of the house in
Otherwise go for it
Oh, and when purchasing a batwing top a vest top underneath does wonders to prevent flashing your bra to the whole world (and if you prefer to swing free this is an essential)
One more, sorry - wet look leggings, should be tight and only with heels
lol, look at me the fashonista, im going to open my own advice section in my local Primarni changing room lol
look forward to reading others comments

I don't actually rate him very much on the Fasion show either, but really enjoy his "How to Look Good Naked" series, as at least then it the more day to day high street fashion he is promoting rather than all that designer rubbish, I mean who is going to buy a dress and sew some mesh at the bottom of it.0 -

my clothes philosophy tends to go on whether i care more than other people, would i look at myself and go ewwwwwwwwww or would i go, hmmm, not skinny but not a house and then that makes my decision
sometimes a digital camera can work wonders - pop you bikini on, stand in a full length mirror and take a pic of you headless - that way you might look a bit more subjuectively at your body shape - when there isnt too much detail in the pic you might find it easier to judge - plus, remember that when walking around the pool thats what people see you do, and realistiically what kind of distance is it you walk, if you are planning on covering up when you sit down then its all gravy0
