They are a tease and if you have a problem screw you. My issue is I thought I sent my RX. My daughter helped me and scaned my rx and emailed me and I thought I attached. They say they didnt get yet made my rx eyeware???? Guess is is ok anywhere? Really? I cant walk up to a counter and ask for an antibiotic so many mgs with out and rx. Laws say the same thing for eyeware becaue without a dr. who knows what they need? So if you dont have a rx and dont care buy here. Good luck seeing. Mean while the countries that care .... dont buy here. I wish someone gave me a heads up... :=)

Hi, as we mentioned before, you did not attach a prescription to your order hence your order was made with plano lenses. If a prescription was attached then this would be noted in your order summary and in the shopping basket, and also your order confirmation.

Unfortunately as customers all require different lenses and prescriptions, we cannot be held responsible for mistakes that customers make (we were unaware that this was a mistake until reported).

    Kind regards,

    Hi
    3 May 2013
I ordered a pair of glasses from Selectspecs (order number 275339).
    I paid with credit card.
    7 May 2013
I received an email stating the frame was on Back Order and would not be available for 4-6 weeks but I could change the frame colour if I wanted. :(
    8 May 2013
I said I wanted my original colour option if they were definitely getting some more in otherwise I would like a refund.
When I checked my order online it stated the frames were due on 14 June.
They opened a ticket number 65074.
I asked for a refund again but they said the lenses had gone into production and it was too late to cancel the order.
I could have a cheap pair of glasses for just the delivery cost to keep me going until my original order was ready.
    16 May 2013
I ordered a cheap pair of glasses that was delivered a couple of weeks later. I was still checking my original order periodically but waiting until after June 14th to see if the frames were in stock.
    17 June 2013
I send an email asking if they have the frames in stock now and when I can expect dispatch.
Their reply is: "Thank you for your email, unfortunately this is still on back order. Your lenses are in our UK office"
I ask for an estimated dispatch date:
    Their reply:
"Thank you for your email, unfortunately we dont have the estimate date, it should be available in 1-2 weeks. I will contact manufacturer and update you with more info tomorrow."
I REALLY don'y like the "should".

    My questions:
1 Should I have been able to get a full refund on 8th May when I requested it under the distance selling regulation of seven day cancellation period.
2 It seems they are trying to put me off, I wasn't told it would be a further two weeks until I pushed for a dispatch date. Also, in two weeks time, who's to say they will have the frames and not make me wait further still.
3 I still want the glasses but I need them now, not in some time in the distant future. Where do I go from here??
    TIA

Assuming you paid by credit card or Paypal - speak to them to get your money refunded.

    jas123,

Apologies for the delay with your order.

As this isn't an option we hold in stock (it's impossible to hold every option in stock!) it has to be ordered in from our supplier, they advised us 4-6 weeks but this is subject to change. We have been advised by our supplier that this is due in in the coming couple of weeks. Any other online retailer that doesn't hold this option in will also advise you that the item is on backorder (some websites may not advise you at all).

We did give you the option to cancel for refund but you advised us that you wanted to wait for that colour, as it wasn't discontinued we processed the order for you on the basis you were happy to wait for the item - we ordered both frames and lenses at this point.

We've also offered you a free pair due to the delay (Today - 20th June), please check your tickets and advise us.

    Kind regards,

Hi, no need to feel sorry for us, we get hundreds of orders per day with very few complaints that cannot be resolved.
Last time I'll be supportive of a company rep under fire... Common courtesy would've been to thank my post, but perhaps you enjoy the abuse you get on here?
Definitely made my mind up not to order from SelectSpecs now anyway...
I don't think I can hang on til Friday...

Just read this thread, I ordered 2 pairs of sunglasses a couple of weeks ago. A pair of Oakleys with polarized lenses and ladies designer Hugo boss with transition lenses. I have been checking the order regularly and it now looks like they are ready to despatch. I'm hopeful they will be ok, but we shall see!
I had a horrendous experience with glasses 123 last year so hopefully this will be better.

    hi,
i'm looking to place an order but cannot see any measurements for frame width as my face/head is quite wide & have been told i will need 145mm frames from hinge screw to hinge screw.
    thanks
  • Can you help me? I ordered a pair of glasses on 08/02 and was sent an email about being back ordered for 4-6 weeks but with a possibility of changing the size or color and emailed back saying to change the size. They created a ticket but haven't responded since. I'd just like to confirm the change and have an update on the status. The ticket number is #75530
  • My optician quoted £400 for varifocals in a Nike frame. Selectspecs price was £300 for identical specification, so after checking Trustpilot reviews, discussing the prescription, etc with selectspecs, I nervously/stupidly ordered. Payment was taken immediately. Selectspecs were very fast at that stage. After checking the order and prescription they quoted me 7-14 days.
It's now over 3 weeks later. I ask for new updated timescales, which they provide but then pass by. My latest enquiry has received no response at all. Perhaps they're getting tired of giving new timescales and then missing them. After doing more internet research and now reading so many negative reviews, I'm now assuming I'll get either nothing in return for my £300 or possibly a pair of unusable/thick glasses. Looks like the high street opticians are still safe. If nothing else, this is a lesson for me. Anyone want to join me in contacting Watchdog?
  • Just received a response from selectspecs.com. Apparently my order is on its way from their lab (Hong Kong?) to them (Kent?). They've apologised and offered me a discount. :)
Once I receive the spectacles I'll post back here with my opinion of the product. They should be at least as thin as my current glasses, which have the same refractive index and almost identical prescription. Maybe it will help others who are considering a similar order.
