Just been having a look at that organised mum diary and it gave me an idea.
If you have Outlook and do print preview you can include a notes area and a task list when you print out your calendar. Now if you're really geeky like me you can put cleaning jobs etc as recurring tasks and then it generates the list for you. Can then still keep track of things electronically (I'm such a geek) but also have a paper copy to refer to, scribble notes on etc. I think I will try it for next week.
Now if I spent a little less time messing around doing things like this and a little more tidying the house it might not be such a tip!0 -
I have A4 envelope folders to file away paperwork in date order for whatever it is for. CC go in a zipped concertina folder and another one for other bills and statements.
I have also bought a half price mid year diary from Mr T's to use as a spending diary and I like rosie's idea of an A4 accounting book which I might move onto to keep track of spends in more order.
I have present ideas, challenges, ebay and getting ready for winter listed in project books to keep me on track. Recipes go in another book.

IT has a four month overlap, Christmas pages, dividers, pockets for paperwork, tear out shopping lists, tear out to do lists PLUS my favourite bit - STICKERS, loads of stickers..*blushes* is it wrong to get excited about that.... it's great for someone who is not big on organisation and someone can buy it for you for a pressie.I second the organised mum diary :T I've used in since Jan to keep organised in work and its been great, everyone comments on it. Have to admit I didn't keep up with the stickers though
On Dragons Den last night there was a website where you could store your favourite recipes, not had a good look yet, but I have a pile of recipes i've printed off here and the internet so would love to organise them so they are easy to find the one I want quickly.

Ive never heard of these organisers before but having looked at the website i can feel a purchase coming on. I love the look of the budget book, having somewhere to keep my reciepts together etc - looks great. I have some birthday money still left over so i may treat myself
Oh and the mydish website looks great too!! Exactly what i need thats for sure as i find lovely recipes on line and then forget about them

After reading this and many other threads on this forum I am determined to get organised before baby number 2 arrives in December so I have just ordered myself a Life Book from the organised mum website! I am one of those people who tends to get excited over new stationery/diaries etc so now I can't wait for it to arrive!! Not sure if I'm ready for a full on household manual just yet (plus a lot of what I've read others put in theirs wouldn't apply to us as we live in army accomodation so room sizes etc change every 3 years and the colour's always the same...plain old magnolia!!) but this life book looks exactly what I've been looking for!0

thanks for the my dish site its perfect
does anyone know of a online organiser cause i prefer to store everything online and not have folders about i lose or have to write in plus seem to do more when they r online thanks0 -
Maybe its me
but I can't see how you can store your own recipes on mydish without paying for a cookbook to be made up
Think i'll make up a word document or just file all my bits of paper into some sort of order.
Regarding the life diaries, keep an eye out on the website as they sometimes list seconds of the leather covers at a reduced price, I got a red one and its lovely soft leather.0 -
I use google documents (http://docs.google.com/) to organise my life. You can make spreadsheets and word processor files. The best bit is that they're searchable (only by you of course!). So, for instance, I jot down my recipes with google docs. Then I can search my documents for "carrot cake" to instantly find my recipe.
Being google, the other great thing is that the service is free.0 -
Well my order arrived yesterday and I love the books! I ordered the budget book for myself and my sis and i also brought myself a small 2010 diary, just wish i had ordered the 2009 one too as i want to start using it now!
Excellent books and super quick delivery to.

I just started using https://www.spendingdiary.com to look at daily spends as it links categories for you by day, week, month etc, so nice nad easy to use.
I've always kept a file box with important docs in that, after an idea on https://www.unclutterer.com, I keep next to the front door in case of fire emergencies. Unclutterer has loads of organistaional ideas. I keep a lot of docs in e-mail attachementa on googlemail too so they can't be lost electronically0 -
Re the instructions/guarantees
I keep my instructions booklets in a box file (because they are all sorts of sizes)
I jot down purchase date on the inst. booklet (for sourcing of receipt from correct envelope...) and for biggies staple the receipt to the instruction booklet.
But they do need weeding out frequently...
And I recently posted on my 'home' thread that once a year I get ALL my cards - credit/debit/store/loyalty/phone top ups etc and photocopy them. Front AND back (you do have to think about positioning them on the glass - I copy a few at a time)
then if the unthinkable happens you have the info you need to hand. This is, of course, a photocopy that needs to be kept in a VERY safe place.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
