Just received my calender and they sent a brochure. Organised Mum do budget books!!! :D They cost £6.99 and I want one!
  • I have an expanding file.

It is divded into the following sections

    1. Memos
Things to keep updated with and check.

    2. Monthly
Each month has a piece of paper in a plastic wallet in there in calender format. It has dates for things like insurance needs to be renewed so that we can shop around for a better deal. And other things that need doing each month year to year. The relevant month gets taken out and put on the fridge. It gets updated for the next year before being put back in.

    3. Meal planning
Does what it says on the tin

    4. Christmas
We like to do bits each month so it doesn't sting too much in Dec, so we list it all here.

    5. Bills
Bills that need to be paid. They get put in our small filing cabnet as soon as they have been paid

    6. Instruction manuals
Instruction manuals for everything in the house

    7. Photocopies
Photocopies of reguarly photocopied documents. We keep the real ones in a safe place though.

    8. Holidays
Information re holidays and trips we want to go on/are going on

    9. Moving house
We are planning to move house so have lists etc all in here along with our budget and savings lists.

    10. Emergancy
We have phone numbers of everyone in our mobile phone listed along with addresses too.

There are two more other sections that need filing.
Any ideas what to put in there? No children here.

We also have three ring binders for recipies and a folder for birthday cards as I buy them up in bulk when I see nice ones being sold off cheap.
Anyone fancy buying my degree? It will only cost you £18k.

I brought one of these for me and one for my sister, they are excellent!

It has wallets for each month to keep all your receipts in and also pages so you can write down spends etc. I love it! It runs Jan - Dec so its something to put on your christmas list :D

I've been using the Organised Mum pocket life book for the past year and love it. Will be buying it again for 2010. I just have a small toddler so the smaller one is fine for me.
  • I have given in and ordered the (cult status) pocket moleskine (squared design, £6.50 free postage on ebay), looks like I will do something along these lines:
    http://aks-research.blogspot.com/2007/08/diary-moleskine-hack.html

If you type in 'moleskine hack' into google this will show you all the customisation people do to a moleskine, so it fits exactly their needs.

I will make a section for logging my personal spending (ie: what I take out of the ATM at the beginning of the month).
This way it can be a diary, a financial log and a wish-list/project book small enough to have on me at all times.
This is also a good site for custom calendars to print:
    http://www.timeanddate.com/

As long as I get over the fear of actually writing in the moleskine, I will be fine :D
