Sammy, that is quite unfair of your SIL to put you in that position.. although I can understand why she would want to talk about it. Maybe speak to her again and tell her what a dilemma it's caused, maybe you could come up with some way to broach the subject together?

God, this is an awful situation!

If you don't tell him how will he feel/react if he finds out that you knew?
Will he blame you if his Dad is no longer around?
    ...Linda xx

If he does I can argue my corner....his dad is not a well man, his quality of life would be so much better if he dropped the 40 fags and bottle of whisky every other day, but since he retired he has been bored...he can't do what he used to do anymore and its makes him angry and frustrated....he thinks he has nothing to live for....chronically depressed I think but would never do anything about it. An old docker from the terraces of Liverpool....a mans man....

Sammy - (gulp) I'm going through treatment for NHL now so if you want to PM me or talk on here please do - I'll help if I can. I haven't mentioned it cos I didn't want people to think it was an attention-seeking thing. I've lurked round MSE for ages but joined in chat because I really needed to erm, chat! About anything, :rotfl:Normal stuff. I'm not working and am really missing that at the moment...
For what it's worth, I would try and speak to him myself - dunno if it's possible for you to get him on his own?
    x

Normal, here? Where?! :rotfl:Never think that you're attention seeking if you want to talk about it though Lenza, can't be easy xx

Sammy, horrible situation to be put in but I think I'd be inclined to keep my gob shut hun. He obviously wants to deal with it his way, and at 80, I think he has that right.

Act a bit dumb, she never told you owt ;)

Hugs Lenza. We're always here to keep you company and chat.

  • It's gone back to normal now! Odd.
  • sounds like they in laws aren't coping well with the news themselves - thing is FIL has been through it all before and knows how he did with treatment etc. so it's like bookie said above - he's made his choice and he's certainly old enough to make it...
