Well, the valuation is for £2300  I suppose I should claim. I wonder if they would give me the ebay sale value because I really don't want a replacement engagement ring from my ex.:A

They will either give you a voucher to spend in a variety of jewelery stores or if you are very lucky a cheque. When I lost mine (a ring of my mums with sentimental value) I got a replacement item to that of the valuation. Ring didn't mean anything to me so I sold it and got next to nothingI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

But Toto,
you would have felt the weight or shape of the ring in the envelope surely?

honestly no I didn't. It wasn't a postal type envelope, it was more of a large jewellery pouch thing. So I just grabbed the watch out and chucked the thing away. I didn't expect a ring to be in the bottom of it. But yes, I should have checked.
I see what you mean though, it's putting me right off contacting the insurance at all because it looks as if I'm trying to pull a fast one.:A

If you were pulling a fast one you would surely come up with something a little more mundane! Like it fell down the loo or the sea.0

Well all you tell them Toto is that you took several items in to be valued, they gave you back the box with the ring in which you put away and the pouch which was empty and having gone to look for the item today its not there. So either you lost the item sometime between picking it up and getting home or the item was never given back to you. Either way you should be covered and you are telling the truth.I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....
