Hi just wondered if anyone can give me some advice. I sold a shirt and the buyer contacted me and said it did not arrive, so I refunded him in full. He is now selling a shirt exactly like mine except it has been ironed and looks like new. My shirt had only been worn once but I sold it as it came out of the wardrobe so it was creased. I'm sure its the same shirt. Any advice would be welcome thanks.

Did you send the item with proof of delivery? By the sounds of things, having refunded him, you did not.
Not a great deal, if anything that you can do.0 -
no I didn't send it recorded delivery - but I will send future items this way. Its a shame as these are items my son has asked me to sell as he is at uni and trying to make a bit of money.0

Go round and break his legs?

Only thing I can think of is to send a 'question' through the eBay system saying something like 'I notice it turned up then' - letting him know that you sussed him and hope that his conscience kicks in. Notice that he is offering Recorded Delivery on his listing!
Are you sure that this is the same one though, it's listed as new and yours was 'worn once'. Wouldn't put it past some people though. At the end of the day, if you get no response then you'll just have to put it down to experience. Make sure you add him to your 'blocked bidders' list so he can't do it again!
In future, you can get a free Certificate of Posting from the Post Office on anything you sell. At the end of the day I'm sure RM will soon flag up a warning if someone is often claiming things are 'lost in the post' and challenge them, so hopefully they will get their come uppance!0 -
You could always buy it and then open an item significantly not as described dispute via PayPal because the item is not new. But for that amount of money, I personally wouldn't bother. Chalk it up to experience and move on.They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

I once tried this on a PS2 game I bought that was so badly scratched that it wouldn't play - and I lost!
Paypal are a waste of time unless you didn't receive the item in my experience!0 -
It does look sus to me, but I don't see what you could do other than what Bookworm suggests and send a message & hope they admit. Just be glad it didn't sell for much.0

Thanks for your replies. When I sold the shirt I put worn once but I'm not even sure my son wore it - it was like brand new just creased! I did get a certificate of posting and am claiming from Royal Mail. I emailed the buyer and asked if my shirt had arrived as the one he was selling looked like it.0

On the other hand, I won a SNAD dispute on a faulty camera that was stated as faulty because it arrived with a fault much more severe than the fault stated. I guess I got lucky, but just shows SNAD disputes aren't always a waste of time.Bookworm63 wrote: »I once tried this on a PS2 game I bought that was so badly scratched that it wouldn't play - and I lost!

Just throwing another scenario out there...
Bought the shirt from someone else after yours didn't arrive
Hated it
Put it back on sale
Edit: I just looked at the listing and I now think that's less likely
My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0
