TESCO - recycling phones.
Apparently you can order a recycling bag from https://www.greenersolutions.com which may be a solution if you have an old phone that will not get much anywhere else. They offer 300 points and £1 to help the hospices - if the phone is working. Only 50 points if it is not.
I have just sent off for a bag to ditch my 5 yr old Samsung. . . . .
Has anyone out there had any joy using this scheme?Still looking :search: for the next saving!
Thanks MSE!:beer:0 -
Well my immaculate, flip up multicolour flashing Samsung A800 was valued at £1.99 with envirfone so I gave it to my mum to replace her old chunky Nokia. I can sleep with that as I feel I have given to help the aged!Integrity is a dying art!:p0

Sent 2 phones worth £73 to these on 30th october and have just emialed them as still to receive any cash.
I'm sure they will say they never arrived as they were stolen.
Edit: yes they never received them so this whole process was a complete waste of time. I for one will just throw them away next time. I'm annoyed as I don't even have a spare anymore.0 -
Just thought I'd write a few words about cex.co.uk as I know there's not much feedback about them.
I sent off a two year old Nokia 6230 which I thought was in grade A condition (phone in very good state and all boxed with original manual, charger etc.). I sent the phone off on 8 December and have just received payment today of £36, which is the amount for a grade B phone (which clearly states original packaging is missing, so not sure why I didn't get the full amount). Anyways, just to give my view:
Pros
- Email with code and information on sending phone received instantly after completing online form
- Payment was pretty fast at two weeks from day of sending phone
Cons
- No communication - it would have been nice to receive an email saying 'we've received your phone, it's now being processed' etc., and also 'your phone has now been processed, you will receive £X which will be paid into your account on XX/XX/XXXX'.
Hope this helps anyone looking to sell their old phone. I went with cex.co.uk because they offered the best rate for my phone, it was at least £10 more than other companies in Martin's original article.

I have two old mobiles that don't work, my local tescos don't have any of the recycle bags and I can't find a link on the greener solutions site to order one! What's the best way of getting rid of these? Some kind of reward, i.e. some points would be nice, but I know I won't get much.Amazon sellers club - member number 63.

just go on https://www.envirofone.com and walk your way through. Its so easy, ive used them about 20 times now, getting old mobiles off family and friends and then sending them in and gettin poor old me some extra cash.
They are simply fantastic and Id swear by them.0 -
Following a recent transaction with envirofone which I was very pleased with, I have just received some spam e-mail (2 so far). The e-mail address has ONLY been used when dealing with envirofone, not at any other time, and isn't likely to have been generated at random by spamming software etc.
I've asked envirofone to help to explain how this might have happened as their privacy policy states personal details will not be given out....0 -
Vodafone have also launched a Recycle/ Buyback scheme for all of their contract customers.
As with the other mobile phone trade in schemes covered here they pay true value for what customers old mobile phones are worth.
The great thing about this scheme is that you can call them direct for free on 54321 from any Vodafone mobile, and get a free returns bag sent direct to your house, and then get the money paid direct onto your mobile phone bill as a credit.
They also offer the service to all customers upgrading via their call centre.0
