  • I too was thinking about moving to TalkTalk. Hmmm, after reading this, I won't be putting my barge pole anywhere near them.

Looks like the TT rep is doing the best she can. It can't be any fun for her trying to use the 'new billing system' line to convince people.

My barge pole and I are off to find another organisation to touch...
  • To be fair to EmmaL it definitely can't be great trying to defend the indefensible. What a shame it's her who has to take the flak and not the head honchos in their no doubt plush offices who's idea this surely must have been in the first place (probably after a push from the chief accountant). Personally, I think Martin should only allow these official reps on here if it's agreed that for at least one week per year we get the chance to have the head honchos of each company on here instead, earning their money by taking the flak. That would be fun..

'Migration to the new billing system', lol.

Subtitled: Sh*t, look at all those loyal punters on those attractive deals we seduced them into joining us on. Is there some way we can get these paying more? What about a 'new billing system' which can't bill on those old deals? Genius. I'll have a look on ebay for a Sinclair ZX Spectrum ..

Had a look on their forums the other day and it's full of punters doing their nut and alleging mis-selling - many of them were on free intl option and weren't informed this no longer applied on these super duper new deals. Result? Charged for intl calls. Big blow out. Talktalk management decide to refund all the call charges. Organise up p*** brewery they a in couldn't.

We had this happen and have also had no letter or communication from Talktalk about the new billing system.

If this is the case, can I get out of my 18 month contract, based on the fact that the service provided to me has changed and I no longer want it?

EmmaL, don't know if you are still reading this thread but -
different family member rang TT to discuss unpleasant situation (as we've posted above) to be told that there is no record of our ever having been phoned at all by TT! And although we were told that our arrangement with TT was "obsolete" as of a month (?) earlier, no changes have in fact been made. Except that Caller ID has gone up a £1 a month and we would have been written to about that (we weren't). Extraordinary.
  • Extraordinary company indeed. I don't suppose TT told you that you can get caller display for free? Because you can.

TalkTalk Caller ID is now £2.50/month. We like to see the incoming callers phone numbers show on the handset before we answer the phone - how could we get this service for free, please?

Carmine, thank you so much, we didn't see this post by thefirs but have followed the instructions and will let you know how we get on. If it does work and if it does save £30 this year then its a real shame that the TT rep didn't alert us to it. Fingers crossed.
  • Just checked my TalkTalk bill and noticed I've been migrated to a new tariff as well costing £2.95 whereas my previous option cost nothing! No letter, no phonecall no notice whatsoever, I'm absolutely fuming, I don't mind the cost so much it's just the absolute rudeness and sheer unproffesionalism in the way they have gone about changeing it without letting me know plus then changing me onto a chargeable option where the free option would of suited me far better.
