Which toilet rolls?

The nearest I think, to an OS ethic with loo rolls, is Nouvelle recycled, simply because they're re-using a resource rather than using new paper pulp for such a wasteful item.
Just my humble opinion...0 -
i buy sainsbury recycled brand, revive i think its called, as i like the fact its similar to puppy brand, but recycled. i also stand on each roll before i put it on, as it stops dd running off reams of the stuff.£2 saver club 30th sept 198 £2 coins = £396(£350 banked)0

My Mum visited my uncle in Holland last Christmas and brought home about 5 packs, each had 12 rolls, of Aldi own brand loo roll! She says it's better than any she's tried over here, even the puppy and the bear. I don't know if you can get it in Aldi branches over here though? Mind you, the amount she's got should last her till next Christmas!Marsh Samphire0

I always buy 4 toilet rolls for £1 or less of nice rolls- any make just cheap.
Try slightly squashing the rolls before use as it stops the toilet roll running away or dampen the roll dry in the airing cupboard it then becomes harder to pull and people get fed up and use less paper or a smaller quantity!!!!!!!!!
Is this too obsessive?!!!!!!0 -

I usually get Andrex (with the puppies on 'cos I like them - no one else notices!!). Have tried value etc over the years and find we just get through them more quickly or they are not as soft as I like.
Bit worried about 'recycled' though:eek: :eek:0 -
Just bought my first pack of Revive "recycled", and I agree the literal concept is a bit scary  .Let's hope it's made from surplus newsprint
.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

We're all wimps.
What did people use before toilet paper was invented?
*Newsprint, paper catalogue pages in early US
*Hayballs, Scraper/gompf stick kept in container by the privy in the Middle Ages
*Discarded sheep's wool in the Viking Age, England
*Frayed end of an old anchor cable was used by sailing crews from Spain and Portugal *Medieval Europe- Straw, hay, grass, gompf stick
*Corn cobs, mussel shell, newspaper, leaves, sand- United States
*Water and your left hand, India
*Pages from a book, British Lords
*Coconut shells in early Hawaii
*Lace was used by French Royalty
*Public Restrooms in Ancient Rome- A sponge soaked in salt water, on the end of a stick
*The Wealthy in Ancient Rome-Wool and Rosewater
*French Royalty-lace, hemp
*Hemp & wool were used by the elite citizens of the world
*Defecating in the river was very common internationally
*Bidet, France
*Snow and Tundra Moss were used by early Eskimos0 -
I've just had a serious thought.
In the spirit of money saving and being enviromentally friendly why do we use toilet paper at all??
Without trying to be crass women get through a lot more TP than blokes (cos we shake it about and also do not turn into Attila the Hen once a month) so would it not be better all round to have smallish Terry Towel squares that were chucked in a bucket and washed after use. We do it with kids nappies and some of us will have it done when we get old so why not re-usables??
Just a thought...............The quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...0
