  • We've been using Tesco's own luxury ones as they're been on special offer - we do love andrex through. I did read a tip somewhere about standing on your loo roll before putting it on the holder to slow kids down as it won't then unravel as easily.............might work :D

Triple Velvet are best. I think Andrex are rubbish. I occasionally get the recycled ones but apart from that stick to Triple Velvet. £3.69 for 12 last time I got them from Somerfield.

  • At the moment we are using Tesco luxury that my OH bought on offer (16 rolls for 12). Not that impressed. Don't like the quailty of the paper and 2 of the rolls were unless (no perforations in one and the other one the paper just got smaller) So much for a good deal. Unfortunately, I wasn't brave enough to return half used rolls to Tescos. Anyone know the correct ettiqette?

I get whichever supermarket I happen to be in's luxury own brand, but if the one with the puppy is on special offer, I get that.... the Aloe Vera one takes a bit of getting used to but it's lovely and soft :) OH takes his loo roll very seriously!!!! :rotfl:

  • Try Nouvelle - nicer than own brand, and it's recycled! I get 9 rolls for £1.99 from a local cheapo shop, if I had more storage space I would have gone to Tradex (local Cash N Carry) to get 54 rolls for £10! Would have struggled to get it home on a bike though!!

Farmfoods usually sell Nouvelle for £1 for 4, or the 9 pack for £2.xx (works out about the same per roll but can't rememeber the exact amount).

I can't see the big fuss about toilet roll. It's only for wiping your bum.

Does anyone remember the advert which was in magazines for Hakle Moists (I hate the word moist lol). It was a good few years ago- when Hakle Moists first came out. It was a picture of a family naked, 2 parents and 2 kids. They'd be facing away from the camera (thank goodness) and you'd see a backside shot of them all. That really put me off. :o
  • Nouvelle here too, £1.49 in the local Savers shop for 9 rolls. Tried others, usually stores own but with four children I end up with a blocked loo

If you can make it cheaper do so. If it's not reduced, in Primark, off ebay or free I can't have it

We use Tesco or Asda own label, (not value) they often do 12 for the price of 9, that's when I buy lots.

Yes I do that as well, Shades is Asda's own brand I beleive.

Mr Proctalgia - didn't realise your username was quite so - um - literal until I read thias thread :D

jackieb - yes, loo roll's just for wiping your bum, but depending on how, um, how do I put this, delicate and sensitive you happen to be in the bum area at the time, luxury loo roll can mean the difference between extreme discomfort and, well, not extreme discomfort. Esp. when you have a stomach bug and are going every few mins, you gotta have something soft

Personal preference = stock up on luxury brand multipacks when BOGOF or extra rolls free; failing that, supermarket ownbrand. NEVER value. Or Izal

Have tried all sorts over the years but have decided that I refuse to economise 'in this area' ;) and so only buy Andrex (but only the 9 pack when 3 extra rolls are free)

I keep them in my airing cupboard, and the other day my friend saw my stack (always 2 packs spare and 3rd in use) and she laughed so much at my store. But I can't bear the thought of running low and so always have about 30+ rolls in my house; is it just me?!!!
