Hi try using a steam cleaner no chemicals and quiet effective. On the issue of the council charging ours is free. Id have thought due to them being pests that all councils would do it for free.0

I HAVE used dog flea shampoo on kitties before - they hate it but it does clear them.
Then I used to get something called DOOM for the house. Close windows; spray, go out (for hours).
bet it's banned now though...
I think when we brought our cat into that house the little *****s were lying in wait...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0 -
Sally i'm glad it seems to be working for you, lets hope we're both flea free soon
I do hope so BeenieCat. I haven't found any live flees today around the house, apart from on myselfI brought in the washing earlier and had the sheets and quilt covers over my shoulder. When I put them down my shoulder started to itch. It was a flea biting me:eek:I can't wash my bedding above 40c as my hot water boiler goes crazy if I do. I heard if you add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to your load it kills the fleas. Obviously didn't work for me though:rolleyes:I might have to boil everything:eek:
Should I let the cats upstairs now that they have been treated? I'm sure I read somewhere that once they are treated any fleas that try to jump on them will be killed by the treatment? anyone else heard this?
My sister and her family were due to spend the bank holiday weekend with us, but I have just spoken to her and she has changed her mindI don't blame her really. Who wants to spend the weekend in a flea ridden house? I feel sad for DD though. She was so looking forward to spending time with her cousin

The cats are going to scratch, even after they have been rid of the fleas. Fleas bite, so the cats are going be itchy from the flea bites.
Re: council, i would pay them whatever their fee is as it is totally worth it. The fleas won't be coming back for a long while after they have sprayed your home.0 -
We use acclaim its every good got it from vets but I might shop to see if ist cheaper0

It cost me £20 from the vets, but I have since seen it in boots for £12.99:rolleyes: It didn't work that well for me, but then again that might be because my cats still had fleas when I was using it. I bought indorex from sainsbury's today. It cost just under £15 for a large can. HTHS they also sell frontline in sainsbury's. I'm not buying anything from the vets again. It's way too expensive!0 -
Ops made a mistake it was called Advocate, couldn't afford flea stuff as well
I took our cat to get done today for annual jab and worming cost £40

We are infested with fleas also, hubby bought some Bob Martin spot-on, as we didn't have chance to get to vet.
I've now got some Advantage from the vet and wondering how soon can I put it on cat bearing in mind she's had a dose two weeks ago?(MIL picked it up for us so not able to ask vet myself). If it was just me and hubby I'd be happy to wait another 2 weeks but the kids are getting bitten too.

Flea treatment always seems to make my cats scratch like crazy at first.0
