We desperately need flea help,we have used frontline and its not had any effect,we have used flea shampoo, collars, spray, powder and i'm now at the end of my tether.everday I hoover the house and spray everywhere before I leave for work and I am still being eaten alive.the poor cats are being driven mad scratching and one of them always seems to have them all over his face, poor boy is thoroughly miserable.please please help
I've just applied advocate to my cats, but I noticed one of them must have groomed herself because the area where I have applied the treatment is a bit damp:mad:(honestly, I'm getting rid of the cats if this stuff doesn't work) I have also sent an e-mail to the environment and health dept at my local council. It might be worth going down this route also.0 -
Avon Skin So Soft repels fleas on humans, and dogs, i am not brave enough to try it on my cats!
You can actually bathe your dog in the skin so soft bath oil, but make sure you place a towel on the bottom of the bath to avoid slipping.
You can also use the spray to stop yourself getting bitten, and it is safe for kiddies, plus you will smell lovely.
Before anyone asks i don't work for Avon, i just kind of found out that i wasn't getting bitten by nats, and other biting insects, as well as fleas when my dogs had them in the summer....and you can order online.

omg i've just seen about 3 adult fleas on my dog, she must be riddled  I used frontline about 10 weeks ago so she was definitely (over)due another lot.
I've just put some frontline on, how long til these live fleas are dead? I'm going to boil wash the blankets and sofa throw etc, but don't want to do that before they'll have died if you see what i mean?
My cat is totally clear thoughThe dog goes in long grasses and stuff so could it be that or are they totally different creatures?

Help!!!I used advocate on my 3 cats this morning, but I've noticed one of them is still scratching. I got the flea comb out and he still has loads of live fleas on him:eek:shouldn't it have worked by now?0

We are going away this weekend so I might get some respite. If they come with us in the caravan I think you might have to lock me up in a straight-jacket:rotfl:
Will try some Avon skin so soft, no you've mentioned I think I have heard that before - thanks!
Am also borrowing the steamer from my Mum and will not stop until the whole house and furniture has been done. Apparently the heat should kill live fleas and eggs? If not take me away now ......................0 -
I hate to say it but as I understand it it's not the ones you can see that are the problem - for every one you see there are probably about 100 more in the carpets etc or ready to hatch:eek:
I know what you mean, and it's baffled me, cos she's not allowed upstairs and the whole of downstairs is hard flooring. The room she sleeps in, which is basically a large cupboard with a stair gate at the door, has no soft furnishings at all, in fact i even removed her bedding last week as she's shredded it all so has been sleeping on her plastic bed!!
I do let her in the living room and out in the garden, but she rarely comes up on the couch but i've washed all the covers anyway on a 90 wash.
I've frontlined her and on closer inspection she has loads of black flea poo on her. It's so strange i've got no idea how she's become so riddled.0 -
The council have got back to me. It costs £81 to do the whole house. They won't touch it until the cats are clear though.
I went out for a few hours to have a break from cleaning. I bought some eucalyptus oil and tea tree oil from boots. While I was in boots I spotted acclaime, priced £12.99 - I bought this from the vets last week and it cost me £20:eek:I'm not buying anything from the vets again. They rip you off big time:mad:
When I walked into the sitting room just now, I spotted a load of dead/dying fleas on the window sill and by the patio door:jlooks like the advocate is working:jI was getting worried it hadn't worked because both kittens were stratching like crazy earlier. Possibly a side effect of the treatment?0 -
Sally i'm glad it seems to be working for you, lets hope we're both flea free soon0

it does seem to make them scratch a lot when they first have the spot on stuff, i posted saying the same thing when my kitten started scratching when we gave it to him! someone said then there is a theory that when fleas are dying they bite more to try and revive themselves or something
still waiting for the skoosh and indorex for my nans house, will report back and let you know if the double blastage works!!Mummy to
