My kitten is 15 weeks old. She came to me at 8 weeks, from a not especially clean home and it wasn't long before i noticed she has fleas.
I combed them off her until i was told she was old enough to be treated when i got some of that Bob Martin Spot On (the shop didn't have frontline) and not only does the cat still appear to have fleas, they are everywhere else now as well!!
I have sprayed the johnsohns(?) spray all around but that does not seem to have helped.
What can i do?
please help before we all run out of blood!

the stuff you buy in the pet shops is rubbish. You need the frontline etc which you have to get from the vet. Its more expensive but it works. There are online sites which do sell it too vet something uk. There is a spray you buy from the vet for furniture and carpets too which does work. But you need to reapply for so long as the new eggs hatch and you need those destoryed too before the cycle begins again.0

You don't have to get Frontline from the Vet any more. Google it and you'll find it a lot cheaper than it used to be (when only available from vets)......0

Before going to bed a night, leave bowls of water in your rooms. This will drown some of them, it will also give you an idea of the infestation.
A lifecycle of a flea varies from 2 weeks to 8 months!!! depending on if they lie in hibernation. A female flea can lay 20eggs a day.
Have your home steam cleaned from top to bottom, steam will clean all stages of the life cycle.0 -
Make a flea trap. Melt the end of a candle and stick it to a saucer. Fill the saucer with a mixture of cooking oil and water. Put saucer on floor, close curtains, get kids and cats out of the room and light candle. Fleas attracted by the light of the candle will get stuck in the oil and water mix. Got this years ago from the Old Codgers in the Daily Mirror - it's weird but it works!
Also get some proper flea treatment, frontline or similar and use it religiously. it'll cost you, but it's worth it. I noticed last week that they now sell Frontline in Sainsburys pharmacy.
Good luck

if you need it in a hurry, the local chemsits generally stock front line now.0

You need to take her to the Vet. They will advise the best treatment. We had an absolute infestation in one of our carpets (and the cat of course), must have used 6 large cans of fleas powder to no effect. Within 24 hours of Lily being given Stronghold, all the fleas were gone from cat and carpet!0

Although traditionally Frontline was an excellent treatment, there are some reports now that it is losing its effctiveness through fleas becoming immune to it (rather like nit treatments) I would recommend asking your vet, they may charge a little more but it will be safe and effective.
I use advantage from the vets which seems very effective.2009 wins: Cadburys Chocolate Pack x 6, Sally Hansen Hand cream, Ipod nano! mothers day meal at Toby Carvery! :j :j :j :j0 -

I don't rate Frontline anymore.
Best to use Stronghold (& Acclaim for the house).0
