Join the club - lol. We just frontlined all 5 cats and used the excellent indorex spray from the vet. I dont usually get bitten but since being pregant i was getting bitten 6 - 7 times a day. Please dont feel bad about it my vet has run out of flea treatments twice this summer - its something to do with the humidity they say. (I think its more people in the area not treating their pets regularly due to credit crunch:rolleyes:) they are certinally spreading like wildfire in the area of south wales that i live.

I second all of the above and also recommend flea collars after you've finished with the chemical & physical warfare!

Noo please avoid flea collars, they are dangerous & apparently the fleas just end up tail end of the cat (Not sure if that bits true as i'd never use any collar on a cat)

Did she have them when vaccinated? You can get Frontline online but probably best to see the Vet, they'd maybe bath her first or something to get some off?

yes i gave her a bath with flea shampoo, she did not come near me for hours after but it did help.

thank you for your help, i will get her to the vets on the 22nd (payday) and keep with the spray until then :)

You need to give the whole house a thorough hoovering and wash anything she's sleeping on, as hot as poss. Then shampoo her, when she's dry use frontline, preferably combo.

If you feel there's still fleas lurking in the house then you can buy bombs but you need to be out most of the day! Not used them myself but my mother says you can buy them in Boots

My kitten is 15 weeks old. She came to me at 8 weeks, from a not especially clean home and it wasn't long before i noticed she has fleas.

I combed them off her until i was told she was old enough to be treated when i got some of that Bob Martin Spot On (the shop didn't have frontline) and not only does the cat still appear to have fleas, they are everywhere else now as well!!

I have sprayed the johnsohns(?) spray all around but that does not seem to have helped.

    What can i do?

please help before we all run out of blood!

I really feel for you delain. we have the same problem too:( we have 3 cats and I treated them all with BM spot on about 2 months ago. After 4 weeks I used it again, but I noticed the fleas hadn't gone. Not only that, but I was being bitten really badly:mad:(they don't seem to like DH and DD as I am the only one being bitten).

I have sprayed the house from top to bottom with johnsons too. Since the spot on hasn't worked, we have started using a flea powder and flea comb on the cats and most of the fleas have gone from the cats, but I can't seem to get rid of the ones in the house. The cats are confined to the sitting room now, however, DD let one of them into her room yesterday:rolleyes: and I had to re-spray her room. I used up a whole can of spray tonight in her room alone:eek:I thought I'd got rid of them from my room, as I hadn't seen any fleas in there for days...until I change my bed tonight...I found a flea on the fresh sheet:cry:it must've been on the sheet when I brought it in off the line. I can't tell youi how many hours I've spent cleaning lately. It's driving me insane. I get paid tomorrow, so I am going to go and speak to the vet. I can't take anymore of this constant cleaning.

I hope you've managed to solve the problem with your cats fleas. I've been rubbing lemon on my bites (ouch!) to keep the fleas off me and it worked for a while, but you have to reapply it often for it to work well.

I am really worried about our wardrobes and was wondering if the fleas were to get inside would they survive in there without feeding off us or the cats? TIA

Hi. When you hoover you must empty the bag outside.
If you have a look on the Birmingham City Council website (https://www.birmingham.gov.uk ) there is a downloadable fact sheet about fleas.
Tea tree oil will help with the bites
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
  • Go to vets and get Frontline for cat or the new one that is supposed to be better (can't remember name) and Indorex for the house- pet shop remedies do not work.

Flea collars are useless- as told to us by our Vet. To prevent them catching new fleas than you can get the monthly drops. Also cover some worms and ticks.

thanks for the link :) I have a henry hoover and I've been spraying it with flea killer (the bag etc) when I've finished with it. I also block the end with tissue. Not sure if this is a good idea though??

Today, I went to the vets for flea treatment and spray. They didn't have indorex so I bought acclaime. I also bought advocate instead of frontline, because others have said it is loosing it's effectiveness.

I am very depressed now though, because the vet said I could not treat my cats for another week, because I have used too many products on them already (spot on, flea powder and spray) :( I don't know how I am going to get rid of the fleas. They are everywhere despite spending hours and hours cleaning the house from top to bottom. I am going insane, always looking down to see if I can see them, then when I do I get really angry:mad: I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. I haven't even eaten anything since breakfast. It's really getting me down :(

I'm still using the flea comb on the cats daily. I do this out in the garden, but when I came into the house I noticed I had fleas on my clothes:mad:aarrrggh!
