Cat fleas, help we're being eaten alive!

I have got 1 cat and 1 dog and there is me and my 4 kids living in my house but the fleas only seem to want to bite me. I have tried that Bob Martins household spray and drops for my pets, but to no avail. That stuff just reminds me of an expensive version of Febreze. I've also tried other sprays and powder that doesn't work and I am getting to the point now where I want to just move out of the house to escape because i'm sick of getting no sleep through all the biting once i'm in bed. Does anyone know of anything that really does work to kill the fleas on pets and around the house because I can't cope with this anymore?

Kizzy, you haven't read this thread from the beginning, have you? I know it's long but there are several things you need to do and they can all be found in this thread but PLEASE save your money and stop buying pet-shop flea products. they are completely and utterly useless.

You need to find some EFFECTIVE flea products to treat your animals and you also need to buy an environmental spray to treat your home, especially the soft furnishings. At the same time wash all pet bedding on the hottest temperature-setting and hoover, hoover, hoover!

Send me a private message if you can't be bothered to read the whole thread but it's in your interests to do so or you'll be wasting your time and money. A flea infestation is absolute misery but it can be licked if you go about it properly.

The effective treatments are only available from the vets - exactly the same as it is with human medicine.

Effective medications for the animals can be got from sources other than the vet's if you know where to look, they're available without prescription in some countries other than the UK but I agree with the sentiment. Some environmental sprays can be acquired retail as well but you've got to know what you're looking for. The ingredients, I mean.
