We had a very naff lunch last Sunday at a pub/bar place along the seafront in Hove, DD and I had different food thank goodnes. Haven't felt that rough in years, it was actually similar to the constant morning sickness I had with DD, but more painful!
I feel like a new woman today, DD and I got out and about and I cut out one form of painkiller with no ill effects. Woo hoo!!
Back to B!ngoport for day 3 of making inane comments on the forum to get free points, then playing them to win big (here's hoping!) I want to earn some Amaz*n points as there are always loads of things I'd like for me or DD....0 -

Thanks SMF2
Today is my last day of working at home, need to get a to do list sorted
1. MEAL PLAN
Sort out a meal plan for the week, heck, why not a month?! We have a gazillion things in the cupboards/freezer so I really should be more on top of this. - have decided against this as DD will either get fussy or not eat as much as I anticipate so it throws the days out, so am determined that I'm going to really make the most of my tin inventory by looking at it for inspiration rather than buying yes more food in!
Do some bulk cooking so that on the nights i can't be !!!!!d, I can just pull something out and nuke it! Roasted a big pot of veg and lots of rice which did us both tonight and will easily do me tomorrow and maybe Wednesday.
2. CHRISTMAS PREPARATIONS
Start wrapping up Christmas and birthday party presents whilst DD isn't around to nosey about in them
Work out what I still need to buy/make - 4 more to go, one each for DD and my parents and something nice for DD's lovely childminder and I'll be done. Phew!
Look for some tasty vegan dishes to cook for me/DD/mum to take up with us to parents for however long we're there, to take pressure off my dad and also give us a festive treat!
3. HOME INSURANCE
Look for the best money-saving quote - my current provider wants nearly £500 this year and I only budgeted £300. It's due on 15th December so I have a bit of time, but don't want to let it catch me out.Have to find paperwork relating to my flood nearly 2 years ago so I can get quotes based on how much I had to claim.
4. MONEY MAKING
Do my b!ngoport posts and play through the points to keep earning an Amaz*n voucher - done, feel brain dead though, lol
Send off the CD I sold over the weekend and claim the money from Amaz*n
Start writing reviews on D00Y00 and elsewhere. Boring but necessary, it's free money after all!
Do some surveys on itsyourvi*w via Qu!dco (70p each if you do one, 1p if you get screened out)
5. BUDGET
Look at how much money is REALLY going to be left in the bank at the end of the month. I've really taken my foot off the accelerator this month, suppose it was inevitable with being sick, but I'm doing silly things like leaving electrical items switched on at the plug. Sounds daft but I currently pay £17.50 a month electricity (which is fab I think for a 3-bedroom house) and don't want to be landed with a huge bill at the end of the quarter. To this end, I tend to switch everything off at the plug that can be, only modem/phone/boiler/fridge are left on and I love sitting downstairs by candlelight in the evenings if I'm just watching TVThis month is a writeoff, I don't think I'll have anything left after paying the childminder, but on the other hand I did buy expensive new saucepans and duvets and we've eaten out, so that's where it's all gone I suppose *sigh*
Work out a strict and realistic budget for next month. I'm envious of Weezl74's new mortgage challenge diary, having been an avid fan of her live on 50p a day and seeing how much they reduced their mortgage during that time, I think I need to refocus and not sit back on my laurels thinking that I'm now "rich" as childminding fees are so much less than the nursery was.....My plan is still the same, to pay off the mortgage by the time I'm 50, and I shouldn't expect it to be an easy ride!! According to my figures, I should have quite a bit left after paying the essential bills next month, as the childminding fees will be so small, so am going to aim for £50 groceries for the month (unless I see some stockpiling opportunities)0 -
Just had some really scary quotes from insurance companies - one wanted nearly £1,000 just because I had a burst pipe nearly 2 years ago, others wouldn't touch me with a bargepole and my existing company....well, from wanting nearly £500 on the renewal notice, by me going onto their website and getting a brand new quote, it came down to £365. Hmmph!!
I called them and told them I was going to decline their kind renewal offer and go through the website, whereupon they matched their own offer.
But.....it's still £65 more than I have budgeted for this year so whilst I do have the money (well, will have after payday), I am going to have to rethink my budget for next year and think I'll put home insurance at (eeeek) £500, £41.67 a month, so that I will definitely have enough and will have a "bonus" if like this year I pay less than £500. *sigh*
Why is life so flipping expensive! And now its raining and I need to get DD from school, but yippee, we get to spend the afternoon playing together or maybe going for a swim
UPDATE - saw a beautiful rainbow on my way to school that instantly lifted my mood!0 -
Have you tried gointg through gocompare, moneysupermarket and the meerkats site?A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I'm with you on the evil insurance... I live close to a river. Great fun getting insurance - half of the companies are a no go. If the council ever gets round to improving the flood defences it'd be fine but no... The improvements were at the 3rd consultation planning stage when I moved here in 2002 (my property has never flooded but it apparently got to the end of my road in 2000) and its STILL not being done... I think we are on about the 15th consultation, planning permission and several rounds of scottish MPs getting involved. Apparently it will start in 2010 sometime but I'll believe that when I see it...  Until then high insurance quotes (and no quidco as I always have to phone up...
). Good luck with yours...
Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!
