UPDATE- Have had a quick look for flights and they're pretty expensive so think I shall be sensible!

Oh fiddle....I've just been mooching on t'internet and have found a lovely family yoga holiday in Turkey that DD and I could have great fun on next summer....looks like DD would be free as she's under 6, and I'd be £475 + flights.

    PLUSES
Yoga lessons for me and DD - 2 classes per day over 5 days
    Full board (7 breakfasts/dinners and 5 lunches)
    Sunshine
Never been to Turkey before, looks like it's a gorgeous, back of beyondish location

    MINUSES
    Cost
Already got 2 holidays booked, am I just being amazingly greedy?! (don't answer that, I know I am, lol)
Will I ever get back on the mortgage overpayment waggon at this rate?

Hoorah, I managed to have my first NSD of the month today, unfortunately I should have spent some money as DD now has no lunchbox makings, so I'll be sending her to the childminder with a tin of soup! Bad mummy alert. At least I have tomorrow's dinner planned....

I felt much better today so worked from home - and am now suffering :(:(
  • Hi

Not wanting to encourage you at all but I didn't know they did yoga holidays where children could go too?! Thats great....shame I can't even touch my toes :o

Think of how much interest you would save by spending the money on the mortgage instead :A

Hope you are feeling better soon

Thanks KM, ultimately that's what did it for me, thinking that on top of the other 2 holidays I've already got booked, spending about £1k on the yoga holiday would be foolish....and wondering how long it would shave off the mortgage!

There are a couple of yoga holiday companies I've heard of that run family-friendly weeks, I've been thinking about going on one for about 2 years, and I'm not particularly amazing at yoga, have been too lardy for years, lol. Now I'm less chunky, and DD is very keen as she did yoga at nursery, I do want to go away with her to a holiday at some stage.....maybe the year after.

Yippee!! Another CD has just sold on Amaz*n, something I've not listened to for about 10 years :) Another couple of pounds for the pot!
  • Not sure what your plan is re the mortgage but if you were 'thinking' of spending £475 + flights does that mean you could 'seriously' think about paying that off the mortgage by a certain date? :p

    Me, pushy??

Yup, I could really couldn't I! Whilst I don't really have the money for the mythical yoga holiday, I was planning on putting a small deposit down, then cutting back/finding more stuff to flog to pay for the rest of it by next July....so if I can do that for one single week in the sunshine, I should do the same mental challenge and put the money into the mortgage :):)

I only have £42 left to pay into my savings pot to pay for DD's party/the existing trips, then it's go, go, go on the mortgage again. I've paid £138 in this month so far and anticipate at least another £20, so small steps....
  • You're doing really well to do what you do, to give DD holiday experiences/memories and birthday parties plus pay any amount off the mortgage is no small feat.

    Keep going x

I agree with KM, it's all about balance (quite ironic coming from someone who just managed to fall off the wiifit while doing yoga :o). You've got 2 holidays to look forward to so why not pencil this in for 2011?
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

Good thinking, although it would be more expensive in 2011 as DD will be 6 and I'd have to pay for her, but really, it's still comparatively cheap, so I shall be good and get planning!

Given that I booked next year's holiday to France about 14 months before we're going, I reckon I'll be planning, saving and looking for good deals pretty soon, lol.

Thanks for your support and advice guys, I really appreciate it! I think the change in season is making me want to seek out sunnier climes.

Just back from shopping for desperately needed packed lunchfood and used £4 of LV from doing a P1necone survey, so that saving has just gone into the savings pot.

I now need £38.03 to pay for the holidays/DD's party, and have paid £138.85 into the mortgage already this month :) My expenses will be with me in about a week, so that pot will be full and £10 will go into the mortgage, plus £2.96 for the CD that sold last night :)

I've been reading on other diaries that people are making loads of money on various bingo sites, I signed up for one, and didn't win a bean :( Am wary of going for another one, it's so boring and even though bingo is a mindless activity, seem so complicated in their rules!
