I use a canvas bag from flylite.com with max. dimentions, sturdy zips and light - purchase on-line. Bo
Yeah, I got those. You'd be hard pushed to get up to 10 Kg.
The only thing I wonder is that they can bulge quite a bit. How do they measure these at Gatwick? Do you have to fit them into a rigid rectangular space?0 -
I bought a plastic zipped travel bag from sainsburys supermarket (it's with all the travel stuff like plugs and travel pillows). While it IS about 20 by 20 it is also about 2 inches deep which makes it a lot better than a flat plastic bag.I have it filled with some of the bottles it came with, but removed some of theirs and replaced some with half sized bottles from the boots travel range, plus several small pots for make up,and also room for my foundation, trusty eyeliner compact and mascara, and lipgloss. As i went through security the security person said "ooh you've done well",which I take as a compliment.
this is the bag,I didn't describe it very well but you can see how much it holds-much more than the plastic bags you buy at the airport.I take out the spray attachment and get more stuff across the top, plus replace several of the bottles with half size ones from Boots and small pots from Boots.

It says it complies with current airport regulations.
Last time I even got in a small bottle of washing up liquid and some balsamic vinegar for self catering.Saw it in an airport recently,WH Smith I think.0 -
I was at home recently & during a conversation with one of my mums' friends, they said: "Oh you get 25kg, so you may as well use it!" - then, 10mins later, said: "...most stuff never came out of my case!"
I recounted to them, my tale of travelling to New Zealand with no more than "Pocket Luggage". That's right, a pair of combats with big pockets. All i had was a book, one pair of socks & one pair of grundies in the pockets. Obviously as well as money/cards/passport/shuffle in the other. That's it. That's all i took - and that's pretty much all i take.
Any other sundries i'll need, i buy when i arrive - a cheap shirt, cheap shorts etc.....all of which cost far less than the amount i'd spend 'preparing' in the UK and all of which can be used & abused without fear - leave one set of clean clothes & just leave the rest behind!
At a push, i might take a manbag if it's a winter trip over to Europe or something, but otherwise you really don't need to take anything at all to be honest - so why worry?0 -

I am taking my 3 month old on a ryanair flight in 2 weeks and as the adult/child rate is £5 have booked him as a child under 16, well he is, isn't he?
Ryanairs t+c does say though that you cannot book a seat for an infant....so i don't know if they will want to charge me extra for him or not
Ryanair does say you have to book them as an infant here is the link
www .ryanair.com/site/EN/faqs.php?sect=chd&quest=infants&view=email
They check the age on the passport and any infant from 8 days to 23 months have to travel on your lap, I'm not looking forward to that with my 21 month old! Also check if where you are staying has a cot otherwise to take a travel cot it will cost £10 each way extra. However, ryan air will take a fully collapsible pushchair free of charge and doesn't have to be prebooked.
Hope that helps or you might have already gone......0 -
I always wear clothes with as many pockets as possible, amazing what you can fit in them, trousers, includes map pockets, jacket, fleece has huge inside ones etcPrivate Parking Tickets - Make sure you put your Subject Access Request in after 25th May 2018 - It's free & ask for everything, don't forget the DVLA0

Are we allowed any sort of lady's handbag or do we have to put everything in the suitcase/our pockets?0

How about Easyjet?0

From easyjet t&c's (that you tick a box to say you have read when booking!!!):
"Save where the limits set locally are more restrictive, passengers are permitted one standard piece of hand baggage to a volume limit of 55x40x20cm (including wheels and pockets) (“Standard Hand Baggage”). It must fit without force into the gauges provided at check-in or departure gates. No weight restriction applies within reasonable limits — i.e. a passenger must be able to place the piece of luggage safely in the overhead storage bins without assistance.
In addition to the “Standard Hand Baggage” you may also carry:
(a) one of the following: An overcoat; an umbrella, or a shawl; and
(b) one standard size carrier bag of goods purchased from the departure airport."
I have travelled with Easyjet quite a lot recently and they are getting very strict now, and many passengers are being stopped and charged at the gate, and their bag being put in the hold.
One piece of hand luggage means ONE piece!! including lap tops, hand bags, camera's etc., and your bag needs to fit in the cage completely, including wheels and handles etc.
At least easyjet allow a carrier bag of duty free purchases extra, ryanair don't!0 -
Just checked easyjet's site this morning, and there is no longer any mention of handbags being 'in addition' to hand luggage - just the 'one bag' rule.
