    Don't be sorry,but I can assure you I have used it a number of times,and seen others with similar bags with a bit of width to them.I will try and find it and measure it.

    Just reading the link where it says about medicines. Does that mean I can't even take a packet of paracetamol in my hand baggage?

    I carry all my prescription medication in my hand luggage. No way am I going to run the risk of my luggage getting lost with my meds in.
    I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.

    I use a bigger bag also. The only place I have been stopped is Heathrow, who kindly separated my items into two smaller bags for me!

    Indeed, as well as being able to buy a glass bottle of spirits airside.. utter nonsense.

    Yep. I imagine breaking a bottle and then using the glass pieces would be a very useful weapon if you fancied hijacking a plane. Absurd, really - and just proves that at least part of the 'security' is for financial reasons.
