I saw an advert for this program and one of their taglines was

"Property has outperformed EVERY other investment over the last 20 years".

This really does give people the wrong idea. Would like to watch the program but Arsenal are playing at the same time. Oh well, i'm sure i'll read about it on here afterwards.

Is it ITV1? Not an Arsenal supporter but I hope they win

I agree. There are folks on here saying "I was there at the start" blah blah, when they were really there half way following someone else. But like ALL things, there are opportunities in every market.

I found a few properties recently and someone on here calculated that it was a 12.5+% return. Some folks on here just hated that as they all had it nailed into their heads that no such things exist nowadays.

If you're hankering for a gung-ho attitude to property, with no questions asked, then I suggest you try sites like the Singing Pig or even the Motley Fool.

By its nature, this site is more cautious/conservative than others. The man who set it up has gone on record as saying that BTL should largely be avoided at the present time. So what do you expect?

:rotfl: sorry mate. I actually own property (unlike some) and having been into this for a few years now and have done a lot of research. I wasn't even thinking of property recently until I had a quick browse and found a few properties that were quite interesting. I actually listen to people who have actually done it successfully. Many on here have constructive views and it's great to hear, but I don't listen to ones who just talk, have no action or experience.

SO if you're all action then, I'm guessing you remortgaged and bought those HMOs with 12.5% yield?

If so, do let us know how you get on. Seriously.

    Forgive me.

I know that makes you a superior being.

I do, though, have a vast range of other investments. But clearly, because I think property is a busted flush, my opinions are worthless, doom mongering, negheadism, etc etc

Strange why Tesco's are making record profits yet are selling off their property portfolio.

"Tesco also said that it planned to release £5bn in cash from property transactions over the next five years, £1.5bn of which will be used to buy back shares"

I thought property only ever went up in value?

You are entitled to your opinions but like a lot of people I listen to the experienced ones. It's like me talking about how good a Porsche Carrera GT is when I don't even own one :rotfl:

Well Im experienced. Ive sold my UK B2Ls in order to sweat the money harder in other investments including a commercial property, property in Berlin and now getting into Morocco.

Id rather set a course than drift on the tide with fingers crossed.

The reason I got out of B2L is litteraly every other person I meet is into it. A crowded market always holds a lot of danger. B2L used to be a niche business, now everyone from my Grandma to 18 year old kids have a portfolio.

B2L is being treated by millions of Brittons as a magic money making machine. In my expereince life just aint that simple.

I got in before the crowd, Ive gooten out before the crowd.

I now seek new investments the crowd hasnt noticed yet.

So you're saying that a TV show recorded months ago and airing to 4million+ people is unlikely to contain any ahead-of-the-curve investment secrets?

    As if...

And ten years' ago, it wouldn't have mattered. Most muppets wouldn't have had the means to borrow the cash to "invest".

Today, quite literally, billions could be funnelled in one direction or another, on the say so of a couple of telly presenters!

    People is dumb.
