Eon price protection Oct 2009 ? switch to Edf

Hi Tom
Sounds like you are on one of our earlier Price Protection tariffs. Either 13 or 14 as these were pre Feb 2008 and both come to an end on 1 October 2009.
Although unit prices on both these versions were initially higher than standard rates they are now significantly lower than our current prices.
At the moment there are no directly comparable tariffs available where prices are protected. The nearest would be Energy Saver 9 which guarantees prices until 31 December 2010 but carries a cancellation fee.
Again, unit prices are initially higher than standard rates.
Other tariffs are available with lower unit prices/higher discounts but without the price guarantee.
You are doing exactly the right thing in looking on comparison sites to make sure you find the best deal for you.

Hello Malc or anyone-else who understands this better than I do,
I'm on PP17 which comes to an end in October 2009 too, I've yet to find any suitable plan to switch to which doesn't have a higher unit price and doesn't come to less when the online discount is applied.
Perhaps I'm not reading the figures properly but I'm on:-
Price Protection 17 - with discounts of- 6.00 % Direct Debit Discount
- 3.00 % Dual Fuel Direct Debit Discount
Electricity
Normal units up to 900 kWhs per year
20.1075 pence
Normal units
11.0985 pence per kWh
Gas
Normal units up to 2680 kWhs per year
5.31405 pence
Normal units
3.3873 pence per kWh
and the best offer I can see to switch to is:-
Save Online
with discounts of:-- 6.00 % Direct Debit Discount
- 2.00 % Dual Fuel Direct Debit Discount
- 9.20 % Online Discount
Electricity
Normal units up to 900 kWhs per year
23.4885 pence
Normal units
10.0065 pence per kWh
Gas
Normal units up to 2680 kWhs per year
6.5247 pence
Normal units
3.40725 pence per kWh
I think I will be worse off moving, I'm not concerned with the price protection element, but I just want to know what is the best that you have on offer as it seems that there isn't a current product that is better than the one I have.......unless I'm wildly out on my figures, in which case can someone please tell me, it wouldn't surprise me if I am.
Many thanks

Hi Little Mama
Looking at the figures you have posted it seems you are in the Southern region (area 20).
The unit prices/discounts quoted are exactly correct for this area on both tariffs.
Our Save Online tariff is currently the most cost effective we have available.
I would suggest putting your details on one of the comparison sites to see how we do.
Hope this answers your question but give me a shout if you need any more help.

Hi lovelyjubbly
There will be no charge if you switch from Energy Saver 4 to another Eon tariff before the end date of this product on 1 October 2009.
Hope this helps but give me a shout if you need any more details. Always happy to help.

Hello again Ily and molerat
My colleague has come back to me on your question.
The Standing Charge version of Save Online is definitely missing from the switching tool when customers log into their online accounts.
Many thanks for bringing this to our attention.
This will be fixed going forward but I don't have a time scale as of yet.
Malc
Hi Ily and molerat
Just a quick update. The problem we had with the website last week has now been fixed.
The Standing Charge version of Save Online is now in the switching tool when you log into your online account.
Thanks again for the heads up on this.
