Agreed, although I do find this Eon T&C particularly sneaky in that the vast majority of their punters will be blissfully unaware of it, and most other energy suppliers who do charge an exit fee put a min term on it beyond which you won't be penalised. Eon's version of the exit fee is always charged.

Whilst i'm by no means an EDF hugger, the tariff they've just introduced that is far cheaper than any Eon tariff has no exit fee and no sneaky 'no discount on final bill' T&C.

    Bye Bye EON

I just entered my figures into price comparison chart and a new EON tariff Save Online came up about 4% cheaper than EDF. Also slightly cheaper than my current EON tariff so I have changed tariffs online and don't lose any discount because I haven't cahnged supplier - only tariff.
Have you checked all the EON tariffs?

    Hi Shaanbles

Whatever discounts customers receive, such as Direct Debit and dual fuel, are not given on final bills when customers change supplier.

This is confirmed in our Terms and Conditions.

Hope this answers your question but give me a shout if you need any more info.

Hi there, I'm confused! We've just started the process to switch over to another energy supplier - our EON dual fuel price protection finishes in Oct this year (we pay quarterly by bill). They assured me that we wouldn't be charged for cancellation, but made no mention of taking away a discount. Will we lose money on this then - & if we do, is it just on the final bill or do they take back any discounts from previous bills? Can you help to clarify at all - would be much appreciated!

My E-on fixed rate finishes October too so I'll be shopping around also. What's EDF's customer service like?

According to energy help line they are one of the best, see 1st post.

That's the massive problem I have with Eon's way of doing this. It's sneaky, because what the CS rep told you is legally correct in that you aren't charged an exit/cancellation fee! But you WILL have your discount cancelled on your FINAL bill. BTW, it's only the final bill but if you time it wrong that could equate to a full quarter and that could be a sizeable sum (obviously it would be even more in Winter!). When is an exit fee not an exit fee? When it's an Eon cancellation of discount on the final bill, that's when.

Message to EON rep: can you please point us to a link on your web site which details the Standard Tarriff rates so we can get a general idea of how much we'll get charged on the final bill ?

    Hi shaggy

Charges on final bills depend on the tariff you are currently on. This may not necessarily be the Standard Tariff.

When you leave we will charge the usage from the previous bill at the unit rates on your current plan but without the discount.

If you have registered with our website these can be found by logging in and selecting Switch Now on the Your Account page. Your current plan will be at the top of the page displayed. Your discount is shown at the bottom of the plan.

If you are not registered with our website, the unit rates will on the last bill we sent you.

    Hope this answers your question.
