Eon price protection Oct 2009 ? switch to Edf

Hi there, I'm confused! We've just started the process to switch over to another energy supplier - our EON dual fuel price protection finishes in Oct this year (we pay quarterly by bill). They assured me that we wouldn't be charged for cancellation, but made no mention of taking away a discount. Will we lose money on this then - & if we do, is it just on the final bill or do they take back any discounts from previous bills? Can you help to clarify at all - would be much appreciated!
Hello mrtobs
Loss of discount when changing supplier only applies to the final bill.
All usage from the previous bill will be charged in line with your current price protection plan but without the discount.
As you pay quarterly, this will be the 3 per cent prompt payment discount.
Therefore, I am afraid you will lose money but only on the final charges. Discounts from previous bills are definitely not affected.
Hope this answers your question but give me a shout if you need more info.

I am with EON and on pre FEB 2008 Price protection.
I need to find a good deal too. Why doesnt EON offer a better deal tyo keep the customers.
I phoned EON to get told that if I phone 2 weeks before the end of the deal they will see.
Here is what I found from the comparison site.

Hi Tom
Sounds like you are on one of our earlier Price Protection tariffs. Either 13 or 14 as these were pre Feb 2008 and both come to an end on 1 October 2009.
Although unit prices on both these versions were initially higher than standard rates they are now significantly lower than our current prices.
At the moment there are no directly comparable tariffs available where prices are protected. The nearest would be Energy Saver 9 which guarantees prices until 31 December 2010 but carries a cancellation fee.
Again, unit prices are initially higher than standard rates.
Other tariffs are available with lower unit prices/higher discounts but without the price guarantee.
You are doing exactly the right thing in looking on comparison sites to make sure you find the best deal for you.

I have a disabled daughter and despite using the price comparison engines I can not seem to find any special rates that I believe are offered to such groups. Does anyone know who has a good deal on? I'm currently on E-On Price Protection v14.0

Hi Ziggy
We don't currently have a tariff specifically designed for disabled people. However, there are ways we may be able to help through our Caring Energy team.
Give them a call and make sure you are on our Priority Services Register.
This gives you a route into a range of products, services and measures designed to help reduce energy costs. They can also offer advice about tariffs and benefits.
Once you have the tariff details pop them on a comparison site to see how it stacks up.
Hope this helps but give me a shout if you need more info. Will be happy to help.
