Eon price protection Oct 2009 ? switch to Edf
Comments
-
Hi Shaanbles
Whatever discounts customers receive, such as Direct Debit and dual fuel, are not given on final bills when customers change supplier.
This is confirmed in our Terms and Conditions.
Hope this answers your question but give me a shout if you need any more info.

Sorry being thick here but does that mean that the 6% direct debit and 3% dual fuel discounts haven't been applied yet?
And therefore I should wait until after 1st Oct to switch to get those discounts?
Also thanks for taking the time to answer these questions - good customer service - and if I can find a tariff close enough to EDF then I'll stay with EON as been very happy.0 -

Thank you for your kind comments Shaanbles; they are much appreciated.
You will have already received discount on the usage covered up to and including your latest bill. All relevant discounts are applied to every bill on an ongoing basis except for the very last bill when you change supplier.
If you have been on the dual fuel Price Protection (version 17) tariff paying with a Monthly Direct Debit you will have been receiving a 9 per cent discount.
This will have been awarded each time a bill was issued under this tariff. It will be shown on page 2 under Summary.
It is only on the final bill when a customer changes supplier where no discount is awarded.
Price Protection (version 17) does not have a cancellation fee. Therefore, you can change supplier at any time without picking up this type of charge.
To lessen the impact of no discount on the closing bill it is best to time the switch when you have used the minimum amount of energy.
Hope this answers your questions but let me know if you need more info. Always happy to help.

Aaprt from the fact that Eon are sore losers, is there any other justification/reason for the cancelling of the discount on the final bill? In many cases it's actually worse than an exit fee because exit fees normally have a time limit on them. Eon's 'version' (i.e. loss of discount) applies whether you have been with them for months or, err, eons.

And I wonder what percentage of Eon punters know anything about this no discount on final bill T&C? 0.5%? 1%?Call me Carmine....

Sore losers? Thats a bit harsh. They are protecting their business revenue just like any other company would.
very few know of the no discount, and simialr amount will bother to change suppliers thinking they're OK staying with EON.
Me? I'll probably just go ahead and change to EDF right now to be honest. No point in hanging around. I think the Top Cash Back £60 will sort of make up for the final high bill from EON.
Good riddance is all I've got so say.0 -
My E-on fixed rate finishes October too so I'll be shopping around also. What's EDF's customer service like?0

It's not harsh at all IMO. This is in many respects worse than an exit fee as there's no expiration to it. You get done for your last bill no matter how long you have been a loyal customer. Customer for 20 years but switching? OK, here's your final bill (minus huge discount)..thanks! A proper regulator would have outlawed this sneaky business practice.Call me Carmine....

IMHO they're all like that so thats why i said its harsh.
Theyre all in it to make money and please their shareholders and will do whatever they can including fleece teh customer.0 -
Message to EON rep: can you please point us to a link on your web site which details the Standard Tarriff rates so we can get a general idea of how much we'll get charged on the final bill ?0

Agreed, although I do find this Eon T&C particularly sneaky in that the vast majority of their punters will be blissfully unaware of it, and most other energy suppliers who do charge an exit fee put a min term on it beyond which you won't be penalised. Eon's version of the exit fee is always charged.
Whilst i'm by no means an EDF hugger, the tariff they've just introduced that is far cheaper than any Eon tariff has no exit fee and no sneaky 'no discount on final bill' T&C.Call me Carmine....
