Anyone heard of: City Financial or Northern Financial both based in/around Manchester

Hi,
I am sorry if this has already been discussed in the past, but I have had a search through the forums and can't find anything.
I was very silly and paid 'City Financial' a fee of £55 to organise a loan for me - and yes, I haven't heard a thing since. I have tried contacting thier customer service, but they never answer.
So, has anyone else had any dealings with them?
Many thanks in advance.
Paul.

I would guess you paid citi financial for a loan, they have some branches still open but not many. You could maybe check their website for your local branch and see what they say.
Good Luck

Hi bettykitten,
Thanks for your reply. However, you have mistook which 'City Financial' I am talking about.
'Citibank' is a completely different company to the one I am talking about. This one is: 'City Financial'. When they took the money from my bank account, the drawer/payee is registered as 'Northern Financial - Stockport'. Exhaustive web searches have failed to shed any light on these companies, so if anyone can help I would be very grateful.
Many thanks.

Hi
I seem to remember that if they fail to organise a loan for you, you are entitled to a refund less £5 for their administration costs. Not sure if that's correct but I'm sure I've seen that on other threads where people have been ripped off by these swines.
Where did you hear about this company and how did you 'apply'?
Regards

Hi, i think i may have just been conned to!!! I also payed them a 55 pound charge to sort the loan out but i've had no contact since! Did you manage to get anywhere with them or have you had any letter or call because since reading your post i'm slightly concerned! I just hope i haven't been ripped off, i cant afford to loose that money. I can't find anything about them online and can't even call customer services! I would be very gratefull if you could shed some light. Many thanks Jodie.0

I have checked them out by serching for their phone number online. A complete disgrace! And they've been conning people for months!!!!

put the number in whocallsme.com. Cant believe this is still happening!
Beware city financial is definately a con. Also had phone calls and texts from central capital today which are probably the same theives.0 -
I've been scammed by City Financial. Rang them last week when I realised I'd given my bank details over the phone to someone I didn't even know. They managed to allay my fears and I went ahead and paid them £55. They've just sent me "Terms and Conditions" on a "no reply" email with their address on. Today I received a call from a debt company telling me that because they'd applied to so many loan companies - all coming up on my email and ringing me, I'd been flagged up to them. They told me to ask for my money back by recorded delivered because no email address. I feel so stupid! Can the police not go round and arrest them for fraud. I have their address in Stockport. When I tried ringing their customer services line it's constantly engaged and when I ring back on the first line they just do not want to know.0

Why? you gave them your bank details to be signed up to their "loan finding service".
By the sounds of it they have been searching for a loan for you like crazy, exactly what you signed them up to do on your behalf.
Whether you thought you had a guaranteed loan from what they said to you.... well thats another story.0 -

Well that's a helpful attitude. Do you understand that when people are worried they sometimes let their guard down?
Have you never got yourself in a situation you regret?
Not everyone can be as wonderful and intelligent as you, you know. Why not just write what you are trying to say and call the poor person a stupid looser who deserves what they get?
Jana - unfortunately the tool above is leaning towards the correct answer - there isn't really a lot anyone can do. You could consider reporting them to Trading Standards, but not a lot else.0 -

It may be a justification of the events, but it doesn't change the outcome, which is real, and no amount of sympathy can change that.
By all means have some cuddles, but the it doesn't change the situation.
Some people simply say it like it is as a matter of fact, it doesn't mean anyone is being accused of being an idiot.0 -
I'd say certainly in Janna case, it appears, they have done their job, as it is clear they have been searching, which is more than can be said for many of these type of broker services.
Does the T&C state if they don't get someone a loan then they will refund the fee (minus an admin charge) after a certain amount of time?
Of course if they have said at any time we have definately got you a loan, then there is cause for complaint.0
