    Hi Martin

You say that Caller Display is free with BT, but I checked my bill from them (line rental only), and they charge 32.99 for the Hour Plan line rental and a separate £5.25 for Caller Display, which works out at £1.75 per month.

Have I missed a trick here and am paying too much for my line rental?
A while back, they launched a privacy 'package' - you got Caller Display for free as part of this:

  • It looks like a good deal and whilst it may suit some others may not like it.......i personally use the Utility Warehouse which Martin has covered on a few occasions. There customer service is excellent and you can't buy a recommendation from Which magazine if you tried....have alook for yourself

Thanks for all your work on this. I have to ask you a roughly related question - please can I post a link about this to a messageboard I visit, where they are all keen to learn about it? I have already told them you are working on it and they say they know about your website, but I don't know if they all have the regular email from you, like I do!. I would love to post a link about this topic, so I look forward to hearing from you. This is the first time I have written on your forum :-)

TalkTalk MIGHT be OK for broadband users with very basic needs (email and web browsing). If you need domain hosting, cgi, MySQL, USENET binaries, etc., etc., then work our how much you will be paying other companies to provide additional services which TalkTalk don't offer. I pay a little more for my ISP than I could with a cheaper provider but get all those and more included in the price so my total bill is less.

I have read TT literature regarding BT Star Services, or select services I think they now call them. There is no mention of call sign. I use this service(which gives me a second number on my line with a different ring)

Will this be supported by TT?. I emailed them, but have had no reply.

  • As far as caller dispaly being free from BT it is if you use them for phone calls and register to the telephone preference service (this I recommend highly) through BT otherwise you pay £1.75 per month.
I have been with talk talk for a few months and have had no problems so far. Last month I also transfered my line rental over but this is the confusing part I was told at the carphone warehouse that line rental was £9.99 I see now its £11.00 will have to wait for the first line rental bill. This new deal seems good especialy as I do call abroad a lot I checked the details with talk talk this morning they say you can call international for 70 mins then hang up wait another 70 mins then redial. Martin according to talk talk with UK land lines there is NO time limit. As for me I'm going to wait and see. Simon

Peer 2 Peer - basically a term for file sharing between people using a designated programme/client for it..eg bittorrent, soulseek etc.
    Lost lbs =
Gained £s = Quidco £261.90, Free Fivers £22.26, Matched Betting
  • Dont Touch TT/Car Phone Warehouse with a barge pole... They are real hassle...
