I thought about it, and basically would have had to still paid for broadband from tiscali (who also have rubbish customer services) until the end of July, as thats when TT could supply B/B, although I would be getting line rental and calls within 3 weeks.
I decided against it, but still called the Tiscali disconnections department, who have given me £2 a month off, and said they might be offering something in a few months, but nothing definate yet, and even if they don't I can reconsider if others offer it.
As I have a mobile (free for 12 months on a 12 month contract but unfortunately by cashback) with inclusive minutes, all I use the landline for is incoming calls and the odd 0845/0870 call if I can't find an alternative or call from work. The £2 will pretty much cover that anyway, and I don't have any disruption to service!!

I had CPS with TT a few years ago, I had to use a code to bypass the CPS, I am not sure what this code was or if it would still work

The BT override code 1280 will only take you back to BT if your a TT CPS customer. If your a TT line rental customer it would be of no use.How would BT charge you, if you did not have an account with them?

I have read TT literature regarding BT Star Services, or select services I think they now call them. There is no mention of call sign. I use this service(which gives me a second number on my line with a different ring)

Will this be supported by TT?. I emailed them, but have had no reply.

Don't bother emailing. In my experience they never reply. I just hang on with phone calls and you do eventually get someone.

i have been with talktalk broadband for nearly a year now, and I dont think I will be staying with them when my year contract is up, they are not particually fast, they block p2p ports. if you just use the internet for general stuff then the offer is great, but if you do a lot of downloading then I would not recomed it
  • I'm a TT customer with TT line rental and broadband and have just signed up for 18185 and 1899. I am using these numbers without any problems. I am however one of the 'unbundled' customers is this why I can still use these numbers even though I'm with TT?

I think in the long run the 'new deal' wouldn't really save me anything as I only make one or two calls weekdays, plus a couple of calls to mobiles a day and no international numbers. I pay 14.99 a month for bb which I have to keep for 12 months.

I am thinking after my 3 month contract is up, of moving my line rental back to BT, and signing up for primus free evenings and weekends. Oh and getting an Orchid Dialler to sort it all out for me :j

Please MoneySavers be very very very (how many times can I say That!!!) careful before signing up with TalkTalk. I have a 1meg connection and between 12 noon and 12 midnight It becomes almost unusable.

You cannot download music, movies, skyby broadband, ANY P2P, usenet or much else but as they say its OK for email and thats all.

I have experienced speeds lower than 56k modem on many occassions.

Also do not trust what anyone at TalkTalk tells you about the service they rely totally on their 'terms and conditions' which seem to say 'we can do anything we like!!!!'
Getting out of your contract is near an imposiblity and even when you can they make it as hard as possible.

And see just how bad this company is............

I am trying to leave as fast as possible - I dread the thought that many more people will suffer with their service plus in the time I have left how the service is going to deteriorate beyond the current totally unusable state it is now.

Just think Very carefully ..... Please

    WARNING

Martin. One word or warning for people, some ISP's charge to release the mac code, V21 for example will charge you £30 for your mac code.

    Talk Talk simply say:
Please enter a MAC code if you have one. However, you don't need to give us this now - we will remind you to give us it nearer your go live date.

People who sign up could get a nasty shock later, be warned.

Free broadband is twaddle, the BT standard for each customer is now 8Mbit this will depend on how close you live to the exchange. Each and every BT customer is being upgraded to 8Mbit, view BT website. Each customer has a ratio of 50:1 for residential and 20:1 business class. Because of the duty cycle and other service criteria these ratios are never reached. All ISP's work on the same principle it is just not economic to give a dedicated broadband link at the prices being offered. So you share with others... BT downloads are in 3 options the top 2 are 15 and 30 Gbit per month. But remember that your connection can only ever be as fast as the slowest server you are connected to... Just try some of the developing contries to see the difference in speeds.

Research what you want before you buy don't rush in, within 6 years the only line you will be able to get from BT will be broadband the PSTN net work will be the add on and work VoIP (voice over IP) BT is introducing a 21st Century Network.

Many ISPs are already looking at broadband on demand which will be very easy to use... like your phone you will only pay for what you use, when you use it which will be ideal ... metered broadband.

Talk Talk, Carphone warehouse service is appalling. BT's service calls take you to India where you need a translator to help.

LOOK before you buy or take out the contract.
