I play by Tesco's policy, even if all their stores don't.;)
I would prefer to see the policy continuing as opposed to people abusing that policy.
I will normally also TRY one of the products, when I get multiple coupons, and if I like it, I may continue to "buy" it.
But, briefly, NO, I don't play by the T+C on the coupon, because I will not normally use it to buy the specific product;)
I could list probably 10 more examples of skewed morality. If we could be honest here and agree we're pullling a fast one on the manufacturers but doing so within Tesco's policy that'd be a start towards some consensus. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. HB - no-one's getting cross because you're all sharing the same opinion!
If people can calmly discuss with people who have a DIFFERENT opinion, as opposed t o the attacks I received on Friday for offering to PM people the magazine coupons, then we might get somewhere.
I agree with you dave,
as I said about this "friendly" thread, it only friendly if you toe the party line other wise you face the wrath of the self-appointed leaders on this thread..
I posted my offer of updating the 1st page earlier but have heard nothing, no pm's, not a peep!
that for me is screaming volumes...my offer still stands BTW tho I doubt it will be taken up!0 -
To me, genuine coupon user = people who know the tesco policy inside-out and hand over wads of coupons at the Tesco checkout, for which tesco will receive reimbursement from the manufacturers.
The fact that Tesco accept the coupons, against the wrong product, is an argument between Tesco and the manufacturers.
Most people on this thread want to preserve the T policy (irrespective of whether or not that policy is morally wrong).
My view is that the mag coupons will be a loss to store and as such should not be used in Ts, neither should anyone encourage others to use them in Ts. Many posters on this thread have expressed the same view, hence it's removal from page one.
Bham Dave, on the other hand, has a different opinion - fine, I respect your view, but let's at least acknowledge that nobody is supporting or matching it.Ageing is inevitable - maturing is optional0 -

VC - thanks for that!

to agree we are pulling a fast one over the manufacturers would achieve nothingi think we all know the score there.
what we should try and achieve, surely, is to educate all coupon users, the long term benfits of playing by tesco's rules., and any moc that threatens this, should therefore not be posted. ........just my opinion.
keep up the boycott folks......every little helps.0 -

Agree with you 100% on that one, though!:j. My last post wasn't intended to wind you up, and I hope it hasn't.Ageing is inevitable - maturing is optional0 -

This threads biggest asset is the volume of people who contribute to it, more people= more coupon finds and more valuable information.
It is also though it's biggest weakness, more people= more personality's, different moral positions etc (and we all know what that leads to:rolleyes:).
Re the magazine coupons yes a few weeks ago 2 people said a couple of times they should be removed, but 1 person said they were valid genuine printables and should stay on. I did ask for some opinions and I would act on the majoritys decision but nothing was said till more recently. I didn't feel comfortable just taking it upon myself to remove them without a small consensus of opinion.
Updating the first post actually wasn't too bad Honey did all the hard work setting it up so well, I admit I did feel like I had to read it twice a day to make sure it was up to date but if anything did need doing it didn't take too long. I didn't mind doing it, but I just felt that if people thought I was trying to stop others from posting and take over the thread, my time would be better spent with my toddler.
Where we go forward from here I have no idea
I for one am time limited but I do eventually manage to catch up on posts - I cannot see that anyone can't do so if they are really bothered and if I am a few days behind getting an up to date coupon - well so whatR4pture didn't update every day and we all got on OK then. I think we have all been spoiled since Honey took over and then you PC and it became too much for her and now you feel obliged to read up twice a day:eek:far too much hard work for you my dear and
I don't understand your comment about 'if people thought I was trying to stop others posting'I must have missed something or have you have Pm's to that effect?
I have never felt that way and am surprised if anyone does
Who said you are trying to stop others posting and trying to take over the threadwe are all grateful for your time and effort I am sure and i can't understand why anyone would have a go at you
As for letting the thread just carry on with no updating - if that is to be then so be it - links are now posted in blue and anyone can skim through withoput reading posts if they want to and if they are time really limited or can't be bothered then they will just have to do without the coupons, end of story if no-one want ot update
I notice that Swan had offered - thank you I am sure we all appreciate your offer
but I for one can't help but think that your post seems to indicate that you have had something hurtful said to you and also felt under pressure to upate more often that is necessary and for that I think we should all feel extremely grateful for your hard work and sorry that you have been made to feel as you do:AI am not a beige person:D0 -
Dave i agree morally and legally we all (including tescos) are abusing the coupons for our mutual benefit.
MR T set some simple global rules (which are or are not followed correctly). It allows many of us to save a fair few pennies and we are all appreciative of that.
But what has happened with these mag coupons is a step further... Tescos will not be able to redeem 500+ mag coupons or what not... when only 3 mags have been bought... One of my locals has a no mag coupon policy and has done for over a year.
Its not about morals, its not about legality, its about sutainment as a group. We all save pennies, we all love couponing and it helps make our lives easier/more comfortable in the short/medium and even long term. People are fine to give a coupon fraudulenty to Mr T who fraudulently cashes it in... but they arent happy if through no fault of their own this 'loop-hole'/secret society is broken because of a few greedy idiots/familes.
If people cant behave within reason and for the best interest of all the group then the group should take measures to control things like mag coupons/fraudulent coupons to limit mass scale abuse. Lets face it there always be chancers selling on ebay the odd forged or mass printed coupon... but having it as a easily clickable link on a public website where you dont even need to register is damn easy for EVERYONE to download mag coupons. They wont care about the policy, or the group or anyone else... they just want their quick 4 quid off etc.
Bit ranty sorry :P0 -

Hopefully, when folks have differing views, they will (if they feel they must) state it on the thread, and then respect, when another individual politely disagrees.
If they want to carry it on, do it through polite PMs or take it off the main coupon thread.
There is no place on a grown-up forum for winding folk up. just for the sake of it (so I shall try and remember that, and no doubt otherwise have it quoted back, otherwise;)), but since many folk, think it is a Tesco policy thread, and not a "printable MOC and policies" thread it would help for clarity, if the new thread starter has their interpretation in one of the first few posts, then folk can choose if they want to argue for the sake of it, and perhaps swing some people's point of view (if that's the intention) or if they want to join a forum of like minded individuals, or perhaps set up another thread.
I for one am fed up with the squabbling, and think that if the thread maintainer already has a similar mindset to the majority of the posters, and has the backing to update as THEY see fit, then it can go back to being a friendly forum.
I personally hang back from posting a lot of the time now, because, at the end of the day, most regulars now know my opinion, and so I feel it is a waste of time and effort, re-iterating the same info, when I know that it will just go around in circles for pages, if I have time to respond to one or two people that will just oppose anything I say, for the sake of it.
Any coupon links that are offered, and not put on the first page, can always be bookmarked, for personal use, if anyone, still so wishes.
Many people on here now rely on the discount they get from coupons, whilst playing by the Tesco Policy (whether the policy be right or wrong is perhaps for a different thread) and would be severely hit if the policy was revoked.
So, obviously, when folks standard of living, and what they can buy for their kids is affected, people WILL get irritable.
So, I offer my full support to PC, if she wishes to continue.
But if PC, decides it is not for her, thank you :Tfor your offer of giving up your time for the thread Swannee.
Let's get back to happy couponning!:beer:It's nice to be nice .....
You HAVE checked google before asking, haven't you?;)
If you use the "search this thread" button at the top of the page, you may find it's been answered already!;)0
