I can see that by doing away with page 1 it would help to prevent coupon abuse, but practically I think for each one of us it would be difficult to keep an eye on each coupon/link etc. Ok we could save each pdf onto our own pc/laptops etc but all the other links would be separated along the thread so to keep check on each of these for new coupons or coupons that have disappeared would be almost impossible and then if a new thread was created what then? Perhaps the coupon links could be saved to our favorites:confused:

Would it not be possible to just simplify the first page so it is not so easily read by lurkers who wish to abuse. For example couponnet - we all check this regularly for new coupons so really it is not necessary for a list of these coupons underneath it.

Secondly the word "new" apologies to Lori and PC as this was added in the most helpful way but helpful to others as well if you see what I mean. Sorry for gabbling a bit as Im thinking ahead and typing as it comes into my head. Some points for you all to think about but I for one would definitely not want this thread to go the same way as the Boots thread because I have definitely not saved very much Bootswise since it was closed.

    I agree with you dave,

as I said about this "friendly" thread, it only friendly if you toe the party line other wise you face the wrath of the self-appointed leaders on this thread..

I posted my offer of updating the 1st page earlier but have heard nothing, no pm's, not a peep!

that for me is screaming volumes...my offer still stands BTW tho I doubt it will be taken up!
    I peeped:eek::o
and I also thanked you for your offer:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • thanks to pc for the good work keeping things ticking over and also to swanee for volunteering her services. re policy/abuse, I am with hillbilly22 as I can't afford not to be - if my supermarket is happy to take my coupons without me buying the product then I am happy to do business with them and the supermarket no doubt sells enough stuff to justify being so kind. The manufacturer is happy as the supermarket stocks his product so everyone is happy - I don't see this is abuse - but I think greedy people who make multiple trips and those who pass off coupons that are store specific and have been doctored to conceal this are spoiling it for me - that's what I call abuse.
I love reading all the posts on here - it's an unusually friendly forum and the odd difference of opinion is inevitable - hope nothing changes.

Ok, here's my "peep"...I personally hope that PC, reconsiders and continues, but that she gets a bit more support, as opposed to having to wade through pages and pages of triviality (at best) and antagonistic and downright rude posts(at worst).

Hopefully, when folks have differing views, they will (if they feel they must) state it on the thread, and then respect, when another individual politely disagrees.

If they want to carry it on, do it through polite PMs or take it off the main coupon thread.

There is no place on a grown-up forum for winding folk up. just for the sake of it (so I shall try and remember that, and no doubt otherwise have it quoted back, otherwise;)), but since many folk, think it is a Tesco policy thread, and not a "printable MOC and policies" thread it would help for clarity, if the new thread starter has their interpretation in one of the first few posts, then folk can choose if they want to argue for the sake of it, and perhaps swing some people's point of view (if that's the intention:confused:) or if they want to join a forum of like minded individuals, or perhaps set up another thread.

I for one am fed up with the squabbling, and think that if the thread maintainer already has a similar mindset to the majority of the posters, and has the backing to update as THEY see fit, then it can go back to being a friendly forum.

I personally hang back from posting a lot of the time now, because, at the end of the day, most regulars now know my opinion, and so I feel it is a waste of time and effort, re-iterating the same info, when I know that it will just go around in circles for pages, if I have time to respond to one or two people that will just oppose anything I say, for the sake of it:confused:.

Any coupon links that are offered, and not put on the first page, can always be bookmarked, for personal use, if anyone, still so wishes.

Many people on here now rely on the discount they get from coupons, whilst playing by the Tesco Policy (whether the policy be right or wrong is perhaps for a different thread:confused:) and would be severely hit if the policy was revoked.

So, obviously, when folks standard of living, and what they can buy for their kids is affected, people WILL get irritable.

So, I offer my full support to PC, if she wishes to continue.

But if PC, decides it is not for her, thank you :Tfor your offer of giving up your time for the thread Swannee.

Let's get back to happy couponning!:beer:
I posted that I was fed up of the falling out a day or so ago and I also posted that if people want to argue or wind each other up they should/could go to the drivel thread but unfortunately some will always want an audience and feel they need to post on this thread
I do not think a committee would work as there will always be differing views from the committee members and therefore disagreements which is what we have already
I also think a lot of posters will not like it if they are not on the committee and will eventually feel that their views are not as imprtant as those on the committee
This is an open forum for all not just the chosen few but it needs to be kept friendly
I do think though that whoever is in charge of/updates the first page should have the final say as to what is on there and if anyone disgrees fine but if they are not willing to put in the work and run the first page themselves respect the fact that PCdoes have the final say except of course for Browntoa who let us not forget can veto anything on this thread if it is felt inappropriate and can:eek:even close the thread, no one else can do this and if things don't improve I think that is what will happen and then where will we all be on PTS and unhappy

I think that reading the front page twice a day was above and beyond the call of duty:A and that updating every few days or even once a week would be enough
I for one am time limited but I do eventually manage to catch up on posts - I cannot see that anyone can't do so if they are really bothered and if I am a few days behind getting an up to date coupon - well so what:confused: R4pture didn't update every day and we all got on OK then. I think we have all been spoiled since Honey took over and then you PC and it became too much for her and now you feel obliged to read up twice a day:eek:far too much hard work for you my dear and
I don't understand your comment about 'if people thought I was trying to stop others posting' I must have missed something or have you have Pm's to that effect?
I have never felt that way and am surprised if anyone does:confused:
Who said you are trying to stop others posting and trying to take over the thread:confused: we are all grateful for your time and effort I am sure and i can't understand why anyone would have a go at you:confused:
As for letting the thread just carry on with no updating - if that is to be then so be it - links are now posted in blue and anyone can skim through withoput reading posts if they want to and if they are time really limited or can't be bothered then they will just have to do without the coupons, end of story if no-one want ot update
I notice that Swan had offered - thank you I am sure we all appreciate your offer
but I for one can't help but think that your post seems to indicate that you have had something hurtful said to you and also felt under pressure to upate more often that is necessary and for that I think we should all feel extremely grateful for your hard work and sorry that you have been made to feel as you do:A

Have only just caught up, but wanted to say `hear hear` babyj3-you`ve put into words exactly what I wanted to say, thanks :D

I should like to see this forum continue with collated information on page 1. It has evolved over a period of time and for 99% of the time works brilliantly.

Whoever takes responsibilty for updating is an experienced couponer and should be allowed to make the final decision of whether any particular coupon should be included on page 1 and we should all respect that decision.

There will always be people who will abuse any system but at least this forum will not be making it easy for them if any dodgy coupons are omitted. Surely the loss of an occasional coupon is better than the total loss of coupon use as we know it.

I do hope that this matter can be resolved quickly and peacefully so that we can all return to what the forum is about - saving money.

I do enjoy some of the happy banter on here but perhaps some thought can be given to the amount posted as some days it is quite difficult to catch up with the information on coupons, etc.

Perhaps a continuation thread should be started so all this discussion can be put in the past and we move forward with new resolve and goodwill to all whatever their opinions.

Its not about morals, its not about legality, its about sutainment as a group. We all save pennies, we all love couponing and it helps make our lives easier/more comfortable in the short/medium and even long term. People are fine to give a coupon fraudulenty to Mr T who fraudulently cashes it in... but they arent happy if through no fault of their own this 'loop-hole'/secret society is broken because of a few greedy idiots/familes.
Neas, your candor is refreshing, though i don't fully agree with the wording there!

If morals and legality aren't the issue, but instead what we can get away with under Tesco's policy, then what right have any of us got to tell others what to put thru the till?

Those who fleeced Clowne store probably also felt "Its not about morals, its not about legality" and "it helps make our lives easier/more comfortable in the short/medium and even long term". They were certainly "fine to give a coupon fraudulenty to Mr T who fraudulently cashes it in"!

To me, genuine coupon user = people who know the tesco policy inside-out and hand over wads of coupons at the Tesco checkout, for which tesco will receive reimbursement from the manufacturers.

The fact that Tesco accept the coupons, against the wrong product, is an argument between Tesco and the manufacturers.
And surely the fact that Tesco accepts magazines coupons against the wrong product is an argument between Tesco and Archant, the publishers? So no need to worry about it on this thread? ;)
My view is that the mag coupons will be a loss to store and as such should not be used in Ts, neither should anyone encourage others to use them in Ts. Many posters on this thread have expressed the same view, hence it's removal from page one.
Bham Dave, on the other hand, has a different opinion - fine, I respect your view, but let's at least acknowledge that nobody is supporting or matching it.
If it's any help, the number of MSE posters who have requested the magazine coupons in the last 4 days is
