For what it's worth you r doing an amazing job PC!:o:T Re your decision to 'step down' I, personally, felt it had more to do over what's happened lately on the thread then the job in maintaining the 1st page...:( didn't comment before but am now in response to your post... to me you never came across as wanting to take over the thread; you were always polite, wanting everyone's input and would go by with what the majority decided!:o

Re recent coupon abuse where PDFs are concerned this is bound to happen with so many people watching/reading this thread... like many I never glanced at the mag PDFs not only b'coz they were a 'NO, NO' (sort of) but also b'coz my local doesn't accept internet coupons unless the items are purchased... I agree with VC to let the 1st page go outdated and if people want to know more about coupons they'll have to read the thread... again, I understand not everyone has the time to read thru all the pages b'coz of time constraints but taking in account so many have reported stores clamping down on coupon usage I fear many other stores will follow suit (and some stores as an excuse to get rid of the Coupon Policy altogether)...

Re the magazine coupons yes a few weeks ago 2 people said a couple of times they should be removed, but 1 person said they were valid genuine printables and should stay on. Updating the first post actually wasn't too bad Honey did all the hard work setting it up so well, I admit I did feel like I had to read it twice a day to make sure it was up to date but if anything did need doing it didn't take too long. I didn't mind doing it, but I just felt that if people thought I was trying to stop others from posting and take over the thread, my time would be better spent with my toddler.

Where we go forward from here I have no idea

I, personally think that the second part of that is EXACTLY what the majority would like you to do.(take over the thread)
Take command, and do what you believe is right....you have the power to edit the first post, and keep the thread on track....anybody who doesn't like that is welcome to leave (perhaps the abuse button could come into play for anyone not playing by the thread rules you put in place)
You have also set up the "drivel" thread and perhaps the odd encouragement to people to use that more, would make this thread more easy for all to read.

We will not stop people from being greedy, but we can slow down the speed of getting the info, but PERHAPS, it is better for folk to read it on this thread, with warnings, than on an opposing thread and not even KNOW about the probable scenario of over-use and abuse

i agree with all that's been said in the last few pages. We're getting somewhere - because it's being discussed openly without anyone getting cross. PC, Lori, VC, Coupon-mad, Dr Who-Who, Mad, Ma4tin, ? (can't quite remember your name), Tilly, Blue, Bully, gil and pink. (sandancer where are you?) These are the peeps off the top of my head whose views, INHO, must be heard and taken into account. They are, without doubt, genuine policy-followers and thread champions.
I nominate these people to get their heads together to decide how this thread is to be run. Apologies, if I've missed anyone obvious, who else should be nominated? Some peeps will say you can't elect a committee of policy-makers, but why not??!! If we don't then we go round and round in circles.

My local is one of the stores that had massive mag moc abuse last week and now will only take coupon safe mocs, hopefully they will not ban these too, anything that will prevents this happening elsewhere gets my vote, PC and Lori have done a fantastic job and although I lurk every day I do not post much, not wanting to get flamed, but I feel I must say a big thank you to all who contribute and help me to save money.

hi all just catching up, i agree that all regular posters, and members of this thread not lurkers should actually take a vote on which coupons are allowed or not, then its fair.

its no good shutting the door after the horse has bolted as swannee said, as unfortunately too many people can just browse the front page and just abuse it. we all as a rule agree on the majority of things, its just a few who go against the grain.

so whats the solution? as said before we all need to put our heads together on this one and work as a team if this thread is to continue.this does mean that someone has to be in control of this thread, and they have the final say, some may not like that but then they can always leave cant they?

its a bit daunting for the person who takes over i know but its a must if we are to continue. united we stand, divided we fall

thats my two pennith anyway;)

ps: if there is anything i can do, however small to help with this thread i will help

Interesting.........I would consider continuing, I've had a few PM's about some of the things that were concerning me, and I feel better now:D. I'm going out now so I think we should wait for more peeps to post their opinions and suggestions tonight then be decisive!, I was going to make a poll but then thought better of it;).

HB - no-one's getting cross because you're all sharing the same opinion!

If people can calmly discuss with people who have a DIFFERENT opinion, as opposed t o the attacks I received on Friday for offering to PM people the magazine coupons, then we might get somewhere.
