Just back from my local t's,managed to get my bill from £120 down to £80 with moc,s.Was quite happy with this until sa said that from now on if i use farmfoods vouchers i have to purchase the said amount in frozen food.Eg if you use £5 off 50 shop you must purchase £50 of frozen. If this is the case i would get better deals at my local farmfoods. She took the coupon this time.Has anybody else heard of this happening at there local t,s.

I don't know how they got coupons back, most probably the cash office saw them and sent them back out to the checkouts to use as examples of what not to take?
They find out how much they lose/gain each week on coupons on a report that comes down from head office, this is usually a few weeks behind due to the time it takes to count etc.
All these gains and loses on coupons (as well as cash ect) go towards what they call 'pence per thousand' which is one of the things the store is graded on, if they lose too much each week management will start getting a ticking off and this is when they start clamping down on coupon usage etc.

    This is very interesting couponJ.

My discussions with Till Managers in local stores over the last few months and years have been a little different in some details. Maybe it differs in some areas?

In the local Metro, they told me (and other coupon-using friends, more than once) that they redeem their own newspaper and magazine coupons direct with the supplier each week. They said as far as they were aware, all small stores (Metros and Express stores) did the same, certainly in their area anyway.

For that reason, they would not allow newspaper and magazine mocs unless they stocked the title (they would go and check). One Till Supervisor was very strict and wouldn't allow ANY coupons for money off a magazine or newspaper unless you were buying the title. Same reason given 'we have to send these coupons to the supplier direct - so they are different than food coupons and we have to be much more careful'.

They were happy to take one of each of any other NSS coupons that scanned, and were not concerned about their store having to stock the item.

In a Superstore the Till Manager definitely knew which coupons had been unpaid by the coupon clearing house. They had not been rejected in the Cash Office, they had been sent back from Coupon Clearing (maybe at her or the Cash Office's request?). The main culprit 'dud' coupons were internet printed ones, hence that store stopped allowing them at all. The other problem ones were Somerfield and Sainsburys magazine coupons.

In the nearest Extra, they definitely know which coupons have been unpaid as well. I spoke to a Till Manager there in June about the Morrisons mocs not being accepted, and we had an interesting chat about coupons generally. He knew exactly how much the store had lost in dud coupons in the past month, and which ones were a problem (internet prints and Somerfield/Sainsburys rubbish, mainly), which he told me were returned to them by the Clearing House unpaid so they knew exactly which coupons caused a loss.

I tend to avoid Express stores as they have such a low stock range and they are more expensive. Also I found that they look at you like you have 3 heads if you hand over coupons as cash.

Maybe we'll never find a consensus of opinion from stores about what happens with their 'dud' coupons. Confusion over policies is par for the course with Tesco, you never get the same answer do you?:D
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Yes, me too. Perhaps they've spotted that a lot of email addresses are for the same postal address?
