Them:"hello, i'm calling you from hsbc fraud dep't, I'd just like to check some transactions on your account are genuine, can you tell me your full name and postcode"
Me: "No, you know who I am as you called me"
Them: "Yes but we cant give you the information until you have passed security checks"
Me: "But I dont want any information, you called me!"
Them: "Well if you would confirm your details then we can check the transactions for you"
Me: "But I dont want any transactions checked and how do I know who you are?"
Them: "Well if you call us on this number we can give you the information"
Me: "I dont want any information!!" (getting really annoyed now )
Them: "Well for your own security you should call as there may have been fraudulent activity on your account"
So I call them back, wait on hold for ages to finally have someone tell me that a transaction for £20 has gone through to william hill and £50 to betfair as well as a transaction earlier in the week to norton (antivirus) ... poor man got a mouthful ... £20 to william hill ... if they bothered to look back through my account they would see I deposit there at least once or twice a week and have done for about a year and usually for bigger amounts than 20 poxy quid   I politely asked him to put a note on my file saying that I do regularly use gambling websites and please don't call me every time I makea deposit at one cos I'm getting a bit fed up of it now :rotfl: :rotfl:
They just need to set up your card 'parameters' so that the system doesn't flag up these transactions as dubious. Bookies are a perfect target for fraudsters so I would rather have the phonecall than find out my overdraft has been cleared outMortgage start September 2015 £90000 MFiT #060 -

A trip to pc world and I have a nice new replaced cable, he didn't bat an eye, said "oh its one of ours, it happens all the time" and gave me a replacement. Anyway, normal service is now resumed on the laptop front
Its an advent Duchy not a toshiba, next time I'll go for a dell or something a bit more substantial
Floxxie I agree and am glad they do the checks really, but I have asked them lots of times now to do that and they say they have but obviously not
Hypno, mine is saying the same, just checked again and its still not been cancelled yet so am still a little bit hopeful but I think its probably inevitableMortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

I got a phone call from them, saying they were having to contact 2500 people, because they would make a loss on the deal.......
then 5 mins later, I got something on "my account" saying my order was being processed and would be delivered as expected.

So how much would you have to pay to get it at cost Hypno? Did they offer you another deal? Having looked through the hduk thread its inevitably going to be cancelled, but now theres the issue that they seem to have done a credit check on people too
Apparently as they knew it was going to be cancelled on monday (as a 'technical error'), but are calling people individually offering different deals instead of emailing us all straight away to let us know, then thats breaking some advertising laws (according to someone on there who's spoken to trading standards) ... I'm so sorry for mentioning it in the first place
I've had some cracking deals from dialaphone in the past, and thought this would be another

No need to be sorry, benben - it is dialaphone who need to be apologising. They offered me a pants deal. No wii, no cashback, but a discount on line rental for the first year or so.......not exactly in the same league as the one I accepted in the first place!!
