This is business, no one ever said it should be fair, I have seen off many a competitor by undercutting their postage and making them look like poor business men.

Unfortunately whilst no one can stop sellers charging excessively it does ultimately start to cost the seller in various ways. Yes you may get a neg here and a neg for excessive postage may well hurt your business and mean you will have less people bidding which keeps your prices lower than your competition. Secondly you are being severely disadvantaged in best match, you may almost be invisible if your postage is higher than others selling in the same category.

You cna justify it all you want here, we don't matter though, and even if everyone here agreed that you should claim all your costs it makes not one jot of difference. All that matters is your buyers and you have come across one who feels hard done by and that may well hurt you financially.

I think in many ways its a good idea to use free P+P ( as being forced to on many items now )

Even if you are selling a used item at below retails cost to yourself , if you start charging for your time ( and/or mileage , envelopes etc) you are becoming a business .. that then comes with potential tax implications ( fine if you are already accounting for this , but not OK if you are just someone selling an item )

There is nothing wrong with including the 3.4% fee in your postage as that is what you paid on the postage cost. The buyer is unlikely to understand why that is the case though, unless they are a seller. I would tell the buyer to !!!!!! and get on with leaving the neg tbh, which what I normally do in these situations. You cannot win against a buyer like this and you will only raise your blood pressure to and excessive level. Unfortunately many buyers believe that eBay sellers are charitable organisations and should not make a profit.

Either way i refunded her £1, lets see if she accepts it. £1.20 for other expenses above postage isnt unreasonable imo.

And i might add i dont sell often, she wanted it sending to greece so i guestimated the price so as not to be out of pocket... obv overestimated and overcharged.... i only took offence at her threat.

There no way ou can read her email and think she meant she'd leave you positive feedback if you didnt do what she wanted.. which to me is a threat.. Im not a business i sell odds and sods around my home so its not my livelyhood.. so aint gonna take bs from random people on ebay. I got like 40 feedback ratings or something so a neg would push me to 95% or something dumb.

Indeed she got the item 1/3 what you would patt for it in a shop.... asked for postage to greece them complained that the agreed postage was too much threatening me with 'bad' (read negative or neutral) feedback.

This is why i cba sending my random bits to overseas for more risk and no reward.

Well I am a seller and a buyer and I understand but do not agree.
At the end of the day, we all have different views on how we sell and buy, what is right and wrong, like with everything else.

It really doesn't matter what she paid for it. She perceives she was overcharged on postage. You can justify your postage until your blue in the face. We may agree with you but in the end its the customers who decide. They will leave the feedback and DSRs they think reflect your service and product. If you sell on ebay and wish to do so well you have to take these things into consideration.

To those suggesting this is feedback extortion, perhaps they would like to read what ebay says is considered feedback extortion:
Buyers are not allowed to threaten sellers with negative Feedback, neutral Feedback or low Detailed Seller Ratings in order to obtain goods or services not included in the original listing....
    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/feedback-extortion.html

Expand the 'Some Examples' sections for examples of what is and what isn't considered feedback extortion. Remember, the buyer didn't even say they would leave negative feedback, not that it would be relevant, that was just the inference gathered by the OP.

    Note also:
Feedback extortion is not a reason for feedback removal under eBay’s Feedback Withdrawal and Removal Policy. It is possible to threaten negative feedback, but still leave a valid comment.

As someone else said if i get negative i'll wear it proud. Her previous correspondence has been snappy too.

To show you what i had to put up with....

I informed her i could only send to her paypal registered address (she was registered on ebay in uk but wanted it posted to greece). I said i'd give her a chance.. and trust her to send item... taking a personal risk... then she comes around and bends me over.....

" have no idea why your making this so difficult. I have NEVER had this problem before. I live in Greece and want the tablets posted to this address:

    Greece.

I wont be changing my paypal adresses just for your 'peace of mind'. I have never had a seller give me so much grief before.
Get back to me asap with your thoughts."

Heres her previous correspodence regarding sending item to paypal reg address:
