It's only thanks to the MSE site that I knew that SP would be transferring me to a Capped Rate product until July 2010. I didn't receive an email at all and when i called customer services yesterday (and like others, that number is well hidden), I couldn't transfer to their Online Energy Saver 6 product I needed a meter reading.
And this morning, when I had the meter reading, I couldn't do the transfer online as it wasn't an available option. Were SP trying to make it difficult for me to stay with them?
In the end, I had to call customer services again to change my SP tariff but to give them their due, their service was excellent. Well, that's my energy frenzy for another year.I wanna be Mortgage Free by February 20130 -
We switched to the Eon Saver 4 last year and it ends on 1st Ocotober. Eon have sent us a letter saying that we will be switched to the EnergySaver R1 which they admit will cost 5.8% more than the current standard unit prices but it is capped and protected until April 2011. No cancellation fees.
I have done a comparison on EnergyHelpline and Eon comes top. A saving of 16% with the Fixonline NSC v3 fixed until Dec 2010 with cancellation fees. Even EDF with the £30 cashback does not come close.
I am reluctant to fix and wonder what other Eon customers are thinking of doing.
Hi, i am also with EON and capped last year when Martin was screaming to cap..... EON are now offering FIXONLINE 3 for duel fuel, claiming it is cheaper, this is fixed until 01/12/10, im wondering whether i should be capping as EON come out on top for me too , i cant find anywhere on my bill that tells me what tarif i am on now ! Oh yes and btw, EON are offering FREE tv powerdowns and desktop powerdowns on their site , register soon otherwise stocks will be sold out.0 -
For any who were on Scottish Powers Fixed tariff to Aug 31st 2009 and who are starting the switch routine after Sept 1st following Martin's article in this week's Email. A few initial problems and solutions. Hope it helps
1) The capped tariff that Scottish Power has transferred us to they say is "Capped Sept 2010 P". This not yet listed on the main comparison sites. (Nor on S Ps own web site)!
2) Since switching will take 4 to 6 weeks and SP will lock us in until July 2010 after Sept 31st, I felt the first move was to opt out now to the nearest tariff with no exit penalty. This they say is "www premier plus dual fuel online". Since this is not listed on SPs own website either, we can only switch by telephone. However this was done with one phone call. Now switching to another supplier after Sept 31st will not incur cost.
3) Energy helpline had the most comprehensive list of existing tariffs to compare with and I have opted to switch as recommended (suprisingly), to British Gas websaver 4. This will vary I suppose according to region and usage.0 -

I'm on eon price protection 16 until 1 Oct. Current tariff (ex. VAT) -
Lecky Primary 19.19p/Secondary 10.68p
Gas Primary 4.839p/Secondary 3.085p
R1 is quite a bump up esp. on the primary, which is impossible to reduce unless you live like a hermit
23.35p/10.79p
6.57p/3.43p
Deffo worth looking at other deals and a cash-back for switching. That said the e.on web-site only has deal to Dec 2010, whereas R1 is until Mar 2011.0 -

I was on the SP fixed tariff until 31st August too. When I looked at comparison sites SP came out cheapest for me.I have just received my statement and my monthly costs will be lower next year by staying with SP. Has anyone else come across this? We don't have gas so maybe that is why I can't find any cheaper deals.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

So, e-mailed e.on and they sent me back right away my annual kWh for gas and lecky.
Plugging the usage into Excel, e.on R1 would cost me £946 per year before the 8% discount. Taking the uSwitch recommendation, EDF Dual Fuel V5 would be £701 per year, or £244 cheaper. The EDF deal also has discounts, so the actual bill would be £651. Assume I should get a kick-back of £40 for switching.
IMHO, the premium for fixing to March 2011 is approx £250 per year, which is too high to consider as EDF prices would need to go up near to 40% before I'd be better off fixed. I'd prefer to take the saving to pay the fees for a Black Card0 -
I also was on SP tariff till 31st august, have just spoken to SP, they say hold off changing tariff or company till weekend as they have new ones coming out then, but you will still have time to opt out next week if they are no good. So I am going to wait a few days and see what happens, otherwise I am off to EDF!0

Why oh why, if this is the case, did Scottish Power not include this information in the email we all got in August about the automatic default to Capped Energy 2010 if we let things ride? If they had good new deals coming out that beat the others, they could have retained so many customers whose deals were coming to an end! Doesn't make sense to me.A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion0
