Ok googled it and found terms and conditions on SP website:
3. If you cancel your Fixed Price Energy 2009 supply contract either by switching to another gas and/or electricity supplier or requesting to change your gas and/or electricity to another of our tariff(s) before 31st August 2009, we may apply cancellation charges (inclusive of VAT). The cancellation charges are £30 for electricity and £20 for gas. These charges will not be applied if the supply contract is cancelled due to a home move.
so guessing that on the 31st Aug should be ok, phew - will argue the case if not!0 -

We have it in black and white from Craig, the Scots Power Rep, that there will be no exit fee to pay as long as your supply actually moves AFTER 31st August, and he has confirmed that merely applying before that date is completely fine.A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion0 -

I also was on SP tariff till 31st august, have just spoken to SP, they say hold off changing tariff or company till weekend as they have new ones coming out then, but you will still have time to opt out next week if they are no good. So I am going to wait a few days and see what happens, otherwise I am off to EDF!
Spotted on Energylinx a new tariff from SP Capped Price Energy September 2011, no details as yet, looks like they were not telling porkies after all."When the Government borrows, the citizen has to save".

Spotted on Energylinx a new tariff from SP Capped Price Energy September 201, no details as yet, looks like they were not telling porkies after all.
Found this on energyhelpline.com
£1 a month seems ok to me for a 2 year cap. Might move to this tariff.
ScottishPower - Capped Price Energy September 2011 Online NSC
"Under the Capped Price Energy September 2011 offer, your unit prices are capped until 31st August 2011. These prices are higher than ScottishPower’s monthly Direct Debit prices effective from 31st March 2009 by an equivalent of £1.00 (inc VAT) for electricity per month and it has been added to the Annual Standing charge."0 -
eon have confirmed my usage as:
gas usage is 1145 kWh and your annual electricity usage is 4339 kWh
On moneysupermarket this equates to:
Figures Based On:
£544.27 spend for electricity usage
4339 kwhs £55.37 spend for gas usage / 1145 kwhs
I use the gas vary rarely but only £55 for a year seems a bit suspect?? Ive been told previously that my usage is about £88 a month between the two.
Eons email suggests I go onto Fix online duel fuel V3 as it would save me £85 a year compared to my current tariff. This isnt the tariff they have arranged for me to go onto if I don't ask otherwise.
Moneysupermarket lists that tariff as saving me £70 a year so at least that seems to vaguely tie in with their email.
What I find confusing is that prices have risen - and they warn me of this in their letter, and that my charges will go up, so how come then that a new fix will actually save me money?
The best options with moneysupermarket seem to be bg and npower - but the saving difference between them and eon is small enough to make it worthwhile avoiding both - I have personal hatred for bg and npower has had a very bad reputation - eon have been leagues ahead for customer service, generally.
Anyone think this seems a reasonable course of action?
Thanks
Dave
Argggggg - I find this all so confusing.
moneysupermarket
current prices - gas
Standing Charge Unit Rates
1 Unit Rates 2 Unit Rates 3 N/A
5.314p 3.387p 0.000p
Up to 2680 Kwh

Standing Charge 0
Unit Rates 1 Unit Rates 2 Night Rate N/A #
22.523p 11.498p N/A

the new prices for v3 - gas

24.2340p 10.2585p

The only new price that is cheaper there is the electric unit 2 rates - is it perhaps that my unit 2s account for a lot of my electric and so the saving on that part makes up for the slightly higher other rates?
Also, moneysupermarket says "18% discount" per year - no idea where they get that, plus they say 9% dual fuel discount when I think thats been reduced to 8%.
Would be very grateful if someone could confirm that my overall cost would go down because of that unit 2 electric price cause my head is hurting.
just checked eon website and the 18% seems correct- 6.00 % Direct Debit Discount
- 2.00 % Dual Fuel Direct Debit Discount
- 10.00 % Online Discount

Newport.david, why not look at Ebico for your gas?
They have the same price regardles of how much gas you use, currently it is 3.675p per kWh. i.e. they don't have a high rate for the first 670kWh per quarter like Eon and the rest. This makes a big difference if you don't use much gas.
Before Ebico, I very rarely got off tier 1 (if that is what it is called) and a couple of years ago, switching from BG to Ebico halved my gas bills.0 -
Hi,
Thanks Max,
Looking at my usage that would save me about £1 per month - I would also then lose the dual fuel discount - not much in itself, but it would eat into that small £1 per month saving. On the other hand, I could get £17.50 for switching lol.
Despite that, I think then that staying with e.on for both and changing to the v3 tariff is probably my best option, and luckily the easiest option to take as well.
Cheers

Just found a cheaper tariff, not as cheap as BG, but 'll never go with them again.
Have a look at OVO Energy - New Energy. And its fixed for 12 months. It must have just been announced in the last day or so.
Might try them this time.
Oh, decisions, decisions.0
