The fixed rate were a godsend last year when energy companies were raising rates by 30%.0

Sorry to hear of your tariff-related frustration Gambler. If you would like be to have a look at this feel free to PM and I will do all I can to assist.
Craig @ ScottishPower
Fair play to Craig he managed to sort out my tariff and billing issues in a matter of minutes. :beer:0 -
Remember Energy saver 6 tariff also ties you to July 2010 and has a penalty clause:We may apply cancellation charges inclusive of VAT of £30 for electricity and £20 for
gas if you switch to Online Energy Saver 6 but then cancel your supply contract or
switch to another tariff before the 31st July 2010. These charges will not be applied if
the supply contract is cancelled due to a home move.
I've solved my energy problems. I've just bought a nice new jumper from M & S so I can turn the thermostat down.0 -
I capped in July 2008 after seeing Martin's "cap it" rant on GMTV. I'm with E-on on their Price Protection deal.Generally I think this has been of benefit. However I'm pretty lazy and my account is now managed online so don't get statements any more. Imagine my surprise tonight when I checked and found that Gas account is £280.00 in credit and Electric account is £160.00 in credit. E-on send me letters every now and again telling me that they need to adjust my payments which I pretty much take for granted.
Am I being daft as despite being on a capped rate plan I seem to be paying far more than the expected percentage increment for my usage?Am I entitled to get this credited?0 -
I see EDF's cashback deal on Topcashback has reduced to £40 from £60 now.A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion0

You are always entilitled to get overpayments credited. Ring them as soon as possible.
Capped rate simply means that your rate does not exceed a certain price per kwh. If you use more gas & electricity, you pay more. If you don't use as much as expected, you are entitled to have the overpayments returned.0 -
Hi all
Because of the warnings about Scottish Power automatically putting us on their high price capped rate after the fixed rate finished on 31 August, I called them and specifically asked them NOT to do this (I had to call because I hadn't received an email from them). I was assured that a form had been filled in and so I would not be put on this high rate.
Then I did some comparisons and ended up choosing another Scottish Power product - Fix and Flex. On 26 August I called Scottish Power and had a 20 minute conversation with someone called Mike during which we established the unit rates and calculated what my yearly spend would be. He assured me that I would be put on this new product from 1st September.
Today I checked my online account and guess what? They put me on the high price capped rate.
So I called them again today and have raised an official complaint.
In summary it has taken three phone calls to get the product I wanted - I am really annoyed.0 -

I have just checked my account as well, and despite sending me an email acknowledging that I had opted out of the new Capped until July 2010 deal and wished to remain on standard, they have automatically put me on Capped anyway.
I have PMd Craig the Scots Power Rep, for advice as I don't want to change it online and then get whacked for £50 for leaving the scheme.
I despair, I really do - I did it all correctly, got the acknowledgement I wished to stay on Standard for the time being, and yet I have still been changed to the capped rate automatically.
EDIT to say that Craig has now sorted it for me. Thanks very much, CraigA chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion0 -
Hi, this is part of the email I got from Scottish Power on 31st August about a capped deal I am on, now I don't really have much of a clue whether the deal I am on is expensive or not. Can anyone give some advice at all?? We have storage heaters and therefore use economy 7.We’ve got some good news. Your capped price deal was due to end soon, but you’ll be pleased to know that we’re extending it right through until March 2010.
You might have noticed that there’s been a lot of talk recently about fixed and capped price energy deals coming to an end, and how this will affect customers’ prices. At ScottishPower we’re committed to trying to bring you our best deals. That’s why we’re continuing to protect your prices through the colder winter months when you probably use more energy and think more about rising costs. So, whatever happens, you don’t have to worry about your energy prices. They will remain capped and definitely won’t go above the capped rates before 28th February 2010, but they will come down if our prices fall below the cap before then.
Any helpful advice gratefully received.BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0 -

We had a similar situation to this one - I rang customer services several times and were fobbed off with this excuse, also told to go onto this or that tariff that we actually couldn't use as we weren't new customers. I eventually got an agent to work out a prediction on the offer they were trying to push us into and it was £300 higher than our current one and £250 over Eon. The actions of Scottish Power come across as a complete rip off at the moment which I think is a great shame as we have been with them for maybe 10 years.0
