Surely you can cancel the switch, go back to SP for a week or so and then redo it?

    I wish I could.

It's apparently got to a stage in the process now where there is no going back. You have a couple of weeks 'cooling off' period but then that's it.

    I'm £50 out of pocket :(

That sucks Mogsy. I started the switch early last week, and am beginning to wonder if I should cancel it, and 'reapply'. If they transfer me in exactly three weeks that takes me to the 1st Sept, which is a bit tight!

i had a feeling sp would try and pull a stunt like that ie:rushing thru switchers.i did mine on the 13th so should be safe i only got my edf letter yesterday,so it should be ok and you can always stall the request for your meter readings from edf that will give a few days grace, infact i spoke edf last night as there direct debit figures were wrong which they changed no problem, the girl stated that they will send a letter asking for my meter reading nearer the change over date,i told her im on holiday for 2 week from the 24th august and she said it would be after the 7th of sept as it hadnt even gone out the cooling off period yet.

and those who have not been tracked yet on topcashback you can check with edf whether or not it had got to them via a 3rd party the girl stated mine had,she also said that there had been a lot of demand in the last 2 weeks so this will slow things down a bit regarding the track and the switchover.
  • Having looked at Martins update on the site today I think now I would be better to switch
It looks now that I will be better off moving to EDF's Online Saver v2 instead of taking SP's 2010 offer, saving me £147 on SP's 2010 Tariff. I'm on Electricity Only. Can someone tell me if I move now will SP charge me the cancellation fee for moving from their new 2010 tarrif. (What's the chance of completing before 1st September) or if I DO get it pushed through will I have to pay a cancellation fee for the 2009 scheme. OR would I be better to revert to SP's Standard Monthly Direct Debit.
My EMail says that although the 2009 deal ends on the 31st August I do not need to let them know till 30th September if I want to go to Standard DD so does this mean I have a months grace to get a switch through.
Why do they have to make it so complicated???
    Any help would be appreciated.

I did it on the 12th and it still hasn't tracked. I'm just about to start a missing transaction enquiry.
Mine had tracked within 48hours no problem, but now i'm worried i'll be using that to pay for the early exit fees as i started my change over on the 3rd August!! But as yet have not received a date for change over. Fingers crossed!!! I was advised they do not start the process until after the cooling off period which was yesterday.

I'm just wondering if I should start my switch now? I'm on SP's fixed price energy online ending on 31st August and had the email thru about moving me onto their capped tariff (no thanks!) which I declined but as I have heard nothing since then am worried they will do it anyway and claim they didn't hear back from me.

I go on holiday on 24th August until 5th Sept and don't want to start the switch then just in case they have moved me onto that new tariff or I will then get locked into that!

Do you think I should start the switch now? BG websaver 3 seems to be best for my usage

i'm opting out of the capped rate deal and waiting till sept 1st to stick with SPs best deal or go to another supplier. i'd rather spend a few quid extra on gas and elec in september than risk getting stung for the 50 early exit. as for any good tariffs disappearing - down to luck, but they seem to be hanging about at the moment tho.

forgot to say - email or phone them to confirm you have opted out, if you are worried. ask them to confirm it by email.

I opted out of SP new capped deal via the link on the email. I emailed them and they confirmed that I had not opted out. This is what I expected. I've clicked the link again and made screen prints, I would advise others do the same.

This is what I did yesterday as I did not trust clicking the link had worked, either, despite the on screen message.
