I opted out of SP new capped deal via the link on the email. I emailed them and they confirmed that I had not opted out. This is what I expected. I've clicked the link again and made screen prints, I would advise others do the same.
I've taken your advice and E-Mailed SP for confirmation of opt out. waiting for reply.0 -
I opted out via the email yesterday and then switched to EON Online Saver.
The new capped deal from SP was going to cost ~ £160 pa more than current deal' whereas the EON rates will save me a couple of quid on this years figures. I'm assuming that the switch will not go thru now before 31st August so I won't get "fined"!!
As per others comments I'll have to check that the opt out worked.
'EDIT: I tried a further opt out via the email - the page that comes up does not show any of my details and just "thanks me for registering my details to opt out" - no confirmation of any sort - a bit concerning.0 -
I am on the Internet Fixed Rate 2011 tariff with Scottish Power. I rang them today just to confirm what I already thought and this does actually run until March 2011. She told me that I should not be convinced to change as no other tariff will beat this as it was one of the first fixed rates they offered and it was before all the big price increases. So unless anyone can prove that she mislead me I am staying where I am.0

Well done you. That's a cracking tariff !!
It works out about 14% less than the new SP capped deal Sept 2010 now on offer. (That's for the Northern area, it may be slightly different in other areas.)0 -
Is anyone on Eon energy saver 4? I have been looking at switching but cannot find my yearly kwh and so am relying on entering half of my direct debit in gas and elec to compare the prices. I mean I pay £82.50 a month direct debit for dual fuel. So when I go to energy helpline it asks for a monthly amount you pay so I put in 41.25 in gas and electricity. Does anyone know how to get your yearly kwh to make it more reliable? Or is this good enough? Thanks0

Well I've had to pay the £50 SP early cancellation fee and I'm not impressed.
I initiated a transfer to EDF on 29th July thinking it would take 6-8 weeks (as advised by EDF). It's actually taken just 3 weeks and my switch happens on Friday - 10 days before my fixed rate runs out!
If I'd have known the switch would be so quick I would obviously have left it a lot later. Can't help but feel conned by the whole process, especially after speaking to both companies and getting absolutely nowhere with either of them.
Sorry to hear that...its amazing how quick a switch can take when there is something in it for the 'company'0 -

Thanks, I missed the 'click on the amount to get detailed charges' bit!. So on the face of it the new Sept 2010 cap is cheaper than the old one. However it would appear to be too new for the comparison sites to have included it, so I am no farther forward. According to energyhelpline Fixed price energy NSC ends 30/09/09 but it doesn't, so I don't know which of the many on offer is the 31/08 one! All rather confusing!0

Same here with the EDF switch, I'm going to be hit for the £35 cancellation fee from E.ON thanks to a really early switch date. Luckily the savings from the cheaper EDF tariff for the next month will almost wipe that out... and I'll get to keep the energy meter I got from E.ON.0

I've elected to go back to the standard rate as it is supposed to be the same as the 2009 cap. Then I will compare and switch if necessary. I don't think I really benefitted from locking-in for 1 year. I remember all the hype "energy prices going up 40% this year". I think it was well orchestrated scaremongering to get us all onto a fixed deal.0
