Is your capped tariff ending? Article Discussion

I've been on Scottish Power Fixed 2009 NSC tariff. It is due to end on 31st August. I have just had an email from SP offering me a new Fixed rate cap to 2010 or I could change to the standard tariff. These were the only options. When I ran my usage through https://www.energyhelpline.com, it suggested the best Scottish Power deal for me was the Online Energy Saver 6 as it would save me another £156 p.a.
Is the new 2010 fixed rate deal better than Online Energy Saver 6?0 -
I am also on Scottish Power fixed to 31st August and am trying to compare. I have been offered the Capped Price Energy September 2010 tariff as per the EMail today.
Nearly everyone on this forum is showing a price increase using this so am I doing something wrong. I am at present on Norweb (Supply code 16), Single rate, Standing Charge which shows on my last bill as 1688 units @ 8.415 + 173 days @23.35 giving a total of £182.45 before VAT
Using the same info under the new rates it shows as 1688@9.030 + 173days @12.39 giving a total of £173.83 before VAT. The new daily charge seems to be nearly half that of the existing rate. Is this right?
Can't do dual fuel as we have no mains gas.0 -

I've run my last years consumption figures through a spreadsheet and compared them with the new 2010 capped rate prices. They are showing about a £100 price hike for my combined gas and electric bill.
I will try them out on the Scottish Power Online energy 6 prices tomorrow to see if I can get the £160 saving as predicted by the price comparison web sites. I'll report back on my findings.0 -

Although 1st KWh used in each quarter for gas and electric are the same as the 2010 fix offered by Scottish Power, the pence per KWh for these and subsequent units are higher. If you use a lot of gas and electricity each quarter then it might be better for you to switch to Online energy saver 6 tariff.
As SP are automatically rolling you into the 2010 fix if you do nothing, my advice is select the return to normal tariff option, and then after 31st August, go to the SP web site and change to Online Energy Saver 6 tariff. If SP withdraw this tariff in the interim then switch to another supplier.
N.B. Please check the charges for your own area as all power companies charge different rates according to where you live. Scottish Power publish all their tariff rates on their web site.0 -
Well I've had to pay the £50 SP early cancellation fee and I'm not impressed.
I initiated a transfer to EDF on 29th July thinking it would take 6-8 weeks (as advised by EDF). It's actually taken just 3 weeks and my switch happens on Friday - 10 days before my fixed rate runs out!
If I'd have known the switch would be so quick I would obviously have left it a lot later. Can't help but feel conned by the whole process, especially after speaking to both companies and getting absolutely nowhere with either of them.0 -
Can you not ask EDF to delay the switch?Aug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00

Tried that and they say there is nothing they can do, especially with the switch due to go through so soon (Friday). But I only received the letter telling me the date yesterday.
A very frustrating experience.0
