We're looking for 6 tickets, Aberdeen to Newcastle 10th May this year returning the following day. Do they do friends and family type tickets for 6 people (adults) for theses destinations? I know we have bought for 4 people in the past, Aberdeen to Edinburgh/Glasgow for £45.

Unfortunately the cheap East Coast Advance single have only been released up to the 4th of May at present.

Hopefully they should be released this week (Thrus/Fri), you could try this link as well which is for East Coast's Group travel 3+ people.

Edit: Just done a quick check for the 1st of May and using the link it brings the price of Advance singles down from £120 to £85.20 (x6 passengers one way) on the 09:52

The groupsave calendar is sometimes useful as a guide in these cases http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/groupsave_calendar.html#March
Saturday 17 March First Great Western All services from Bristol Parkway, Bristol Temple Meads and Filton Abbey Wood to Portsmouth Harbour, Portsmouth & Southsea and Fratton before 15:00 Football

Portsmouth v Bristol City in the Championship.

Edit: might be worth altering your arrival time beyond 1500 or perhaps starting the advance ticket beyond those initial stations and splicing it with a normal ticket.

Any of you bright folks with a view on my position. I had booked a Caledonia Sleeper return from London to Aberdeen over New Years. Traveled up without issue, but the return was cancelled due to bad weather in scotland early Jan.

I took the day train back the next day (much inconvenience, and stood most of the way in a packed train), so wrote to ScotRail to complain. I appreciate the weather, but fundamentally I didn't receive the service I'd paid for, and was not offered a sleeper service on the following day as it was fully booked.

They replied saying the Sleeper Service actually ran as scheduled, despite they phoneline and internet site stating it was cancelled. I was slightly annoyed when I found this out, because I made decisions based on their information.

Do I have a strong case for a refund for their inability to provide a service I had paid for ? I paid £120pp for the return.

As a slight aside I actually received £120 compensation from East Coast because the day train I caught the following day over ran by more than an hour. I absolutely do not want to seem greedy, but I would appreciate ScotRail conceding that they failed to deliver a service which I had specifically paid for (otherwise I would have flown up from London). I fancied something different, and an overnight in a train rather than the nonsense that is EasyJet from Luton.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

You've already had a refund - you do seem greedy

I haven't had a refund; I've received compensation for a train which ran late.
    The two are independent issues.
I do accept that I've actually received what I was hoping for, but not from the direction I expected.
