Hi guys i'm trying to get from kingscross to gatwick airport on the 22nd of april for 5 adults and 2 children have a ff railcard and a young person railcard. having a bit of a nightmare trying different routes as due to royal wedding underground changes are starting 22nd april, typical lol. anyway the best price i can get is £45.10 do you think this is the best price i will get or does someone know of a cheaper way? we will be arriving into kings cross at 11am so anything after that time really. thanks in advance everyone

As reported here, there is no direct National Rail service through City Thameslink that day.

TFL tell us that the Victoria Line tube from Kings Cross to Victoria is expected to be a good service.

So tube to Victoria, and then £41.05* for Off Peak Day Singles from Victoria to Gatwick for your party.

*Need to book via SouthernRailway website for that price.

However, if your £45.10 fare includes the cross London travel, then stick with it.

Hi thanks for the info and the links, the journey i found is 1 change at london bridge can you tell me what the underground service is due to be like between kings cross and london bridge and london bridge to gatwick on fri 22nd april please, i have looked on your links but can't find the info i need stupid me lol:o
my price includes cross london travel so i will await your reply about the london bridge service and if all's ok i will book it;).

No underground trains ever run to Gatwick.
Look on the National Rail Enquiries for details of any works between London Bridge and Gatwick on that day.
P.s. I've just looked, there is no planned disruption on that day.

The TfL website tells us that there will be a normal service on the Northern Line between Kings Cross and London Bridge on that day.

Look again then.

£5 each way is possible on Chiltern.

Of course that depends on date and time of travel.

I went on the South West Trains website as you can select group save discount. Put in Gatwick Airport to London for 4 Adults 2 Children (enter any old return journey details on the same day) then selected the GROUPSAVE 4 discount. Travelcards come up at £26.00 total.

Just leaves the 1 x 16-25 Railcard. Similar job with the Southern railway website. Gatwick Airport to 0035 which comes out at £8.00 (southern trains only out of Victoria)

Total £34.00. You are not using the outward portion (i.e. Gatwick to the bounary of Zone 6) of the travelcard as you will already be at Kings Cross. Not sure how this sits.

I also spotted this - maybe it could get it even lower, but would probably have to sort out the tube separately:

Hi there - any ideas for Bicester North to Liverpool Lime Street please? Travelling Sunday 17th April /return Monday 18th April. Best I can find is £96.20 for 2 adults, which doesn't seem too bad, but you never know.
