And wait for the cheap tickets from East Coast to come out - you are a little early to be booking. 9 July is the latest date currently0 -
Thanks to Dzug1 + Miller for your help.
Think its time to buy a Railcard !! I will certainly use it in the future, so might as well take the plunge now, I did not realise how big the savings would be !!0 -
Trying to find the cheapest ticket from Sheffield to Edinburgh, going on a Friday - early train 9am ish, coming back Sunday, leaving about 4pm.
I have a young persons railcard.
Really not sure about split ticketing on the way back as want to make sure that if my connections fail, the company are responsible for getting me home, rather than me having to fork out.
Cheapest I've found is about £48, any tips to make it cheaper?

Plan well ahead.
Try and be flexible on your times.
Book on East Coast trains website and get 10% off their Advance singles.
Don't know which Friday and Sunday you are planning to travel, but using 13/15 May as an example...
Dep Sheffield 05:29, arr Edinburgh 09:19, Advance Single = £13.80.
Dep Edinburgh 16:30, arr Sheffield 20:06, Advance Single = £22.90.
Total return = £36.70.
Using 17/19 June as another example...
Dep Sheffield 05:29, arr Edinburgh 09:19, Advance Single = £13.80.
Dep Edinburgh 18:00, arr Sheffield 21:38, Advance Single = £17:95.
Total return = £31:75.
Those fares include railcard discount.
Must book on East Coast Trains website to get those fares.0 -
Hi I'm trying to get from Edinburgh to London on the 16th May arriving by 16.30. Can get it down to just under £42 on east coast mainline but they say they have £12 fares availiable and I can;t find them.. am I going crazy. Still seems expensive to me, any good places to split?
Thanks

£41.85 isn't too bad when you consider a Super Off Peak Single is £113.60.0 -

If you can travel early and back late, then it can be done £38.20 (2x adults 1 Disabled railcard & companion discount fare).
Dep London 05:39 arr Blacpool 09:05 advance single £19.10
Dep Blackpool 19:20 arr London 22:22 advance single £19.10
With Advance tickets you must travel on booked trains.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0
