Have a look at megatrain if you haven't already done so.

A Family and Friends railcard may help in place of (or possibly as well as) the Disabled one.

Complaints of 'unreal' prices are either naive expectations or looking things up wrong - it's always helpful to put what you HAVE found

    Hi dzug1
I Can see your a bit of a ball breaker and does not suffer fools gladly, but I don't mind.
I think your right about looking things up wrong and being naive as the prices I was getting were in the region of £390 I have changed things and we are now more flexible with times ,I am under a bit of pressure at the moment and so I sent out my hand for help from wiser ones in this field, Sorry if I annoyed you.

Not really that annoyed;) And I hope I was polite if a little terse and at least gave you some hints. If I had really thought you a fool I wouldn't have bothered responding

Just that it's easier to help you and pitch the advice at the right level given some idea of what you have found so far and/or are hoping for.

And I can assure you that in some other areas of expertise I am just as much a fool......

Super Off Peak Single = £17.80.
Super Off Peak Day Return = £17.90.

    Maybe find a bus cheaper.

If you do this journey reasonably frequently then worth thinking about a Network card to get you good discounts.

Can anyone give any advice with this: 2 (possibly 3) adults travelling Cheshunt to Chester on 4th June (pm) returning 5th June (pm). First time we've done this trip so not even sure which train line to use.
    Thanks
Cheshunt to Birmingham and another ticket from Birmingham to Chester with Arriva Wales might just be cheaper.

I am looking to travel from Hereford to London on 9th July and returning on 11th July 2010. Two adults and would like to arrive quite early in London and to get back early evening on the Sunday.

Best price £136.00 - anyone know if splitting tickets would save a great deal?

An Off Peak Return Hereford to Paddington via Evesham is £91.40.

Using London Midland train to Birmingham, and Chiltern train to Marylebone,
it can be done for around £70 using fully flexible tickets.

There may be Advance Singles via Newport, splitting at Newport, or via Birmingham as outlined above, but at this moment in time it is not possible to look them up.

Building on from my last post...

There are Advance Singles available for travel via Newport, but not sure if times are suitable.

    9 Jun Dep Hereford 10:38, arr Paddington 13:32. Advance Singles = £42.00.
    11 Jun Dep Paddington 14:30, arr Hereford 18:30. Advance Singles = £42.00.
But rail replacement bus between Newport and Hereford on the return leg.

The choice is yours, but the fully flexible Off Peak Returns via Evesham at £91.40 seems the best compromise.

    Info from East Coast Trains.
