Hi, first post, and I need a little help.

I'm going to london on hols on the 17 July til the 24 July and am trying to get as cheap a pair of tix as possible. I live in Glasgow but I've noticed going from Edinburgh could be cheaper. Can someone help lower the costs? I've got it sat around £108 for the both of us (going by the morning prices) although obviously I'd like it to be cheaper. I'm not particularly good with working out the best, cheapest ways (I was finding the splitting-tickets things difficult to work for example) so if you can help that would be rad. Also, if there are other cheaper ways, like flying, on the same days, that'd be handy to know too although I'm not too keen on being on a coach for 12 hours. Also, if you can find cheap tix via overnight drains the day before etc that would also work! :)

Thanks, I hope that's enough data for someone to help me out, that'd be rad! :)

If you don't mind travelling early morning then the journey can be done for £70 without travelling via Edinburgh.
Glasgow Central to London Euston 17th July 05.40 £35 Advance Single
London Euston to Glasgow Central 24th July 08.30 £35 Advance Single
Total £70 Return for the both of you

Prices from East Coast website , there is other £35 fare options for your dates but you arrive a lot later into London or Glasgow

For the Caly Sleeper you need to Book direct with Scotrail and play with the dates to see if you can get it cheaper

Thank you so much KeithP. Both my friend and I had been looking and the cheapest we could find was around the £60, so your suggestion is a big saving and less changes. Thanks.
Just remember, with Advance Singles you must travel on the exact train.

Advance singles at £45 each way are available on several trains

If you want to retain flexibility £108.40 is the walk on off peak return price

    Hi,

I've done the typical searches on the trainline and national rail sites but I wondered if anyone could help further? It's a bit vague and last minute but what the heck...

I'm wanting to book two adult returns from Chester to Wembley next Saturday (attending the cup final). There doesn't seem to be much to be gained by booking two singles rather than an open return and as congestion getting out of the stadium could be tricky it's probs safer getting open returns.

The best I can find is just under £130 for the two of us, standard open return which is the national rail 'going rate'.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance,

    S.

A Super Off Peak Return from Chester to Wembley Central or Wembley Park or Wembley Stadium is only £64.80, but will be a little tight catching the last returning train at that price.
Looks like the train operators have noticed there is a football match on. On other Saturdays, that fare is available on later trains.

Another way would be to get an Off Peak Day Return from Chester to Birmingham New Street at £31.00.
Then a short walk (10mins?) to Birmingham Moor Street.
Then an Off Peak Day Return from Moor Street (via High Wycombe) to Wembley Stadium at £63.80.
Total = £94.80... thats total for both of you.

Info from East Coast Trains website.

Many, many thanks for that KeithP. The saving would certainly pay for the days 'refreshments' so I will certainly do some more research on that route.

    Sincere thanks again,

    S.

Building on my last post, greater savings can be made.

    From the Chiltern Railways website...
A Super Off Peak Return is available from Moor Street to Wembley Stadium (via High Wycombe) for £39.00 for two.
As always, there is a slight drawback. the earliest you can get to Wembley Stadium Station on that ticket is 13:55. The station is right next to the stadium, so that shouldn't be a problem for 3pm kickoff. There are certainly later trains for the return leg at that price.

So total for two of you could be just £70.00.

Can anyone give any advice with this: 2 (possibly 3) adults travelling Cheshunt to Chester on 4th June (pm) returning 5th June (pm). First time we've done this trip so not even sure which train line to use.
    Thanks

What's the best price you've found so far?

https://www.eastcoast.co.uk is probably the easiest booking site to use.
