Building on from my last post...

There are Advance Singles available for travel via Newport, but not sure if times are suitable.

    9 Jun Dep Hereford 10:38, arr Paddington 13:32. Advance Singles = £42.00.
    11 Jun Dep Paddington 14:30, arr Hereford 18:30. Advance Singles = £42.00.
But rail replacement bus between Newport and Hereford on the return leg.

The choice is yours, but the fully flexible Off Peak Returns via Evesham at £91.40 seems the best compromise.

    Info from East Coast Trains.

Fully flexible yes - but very much off peak. The 1130 arrival in Paddington may be later than OP wants - 'quite early' were the words. If that's important then earlier trains are more expensive, though not extortionately so for a journey of that length.

    Thanks for your thoughts Dzug.

I did write phrases like "not sure if times are suitable", "The choice is yours" and "compromise".

The Off Peak Return tickets via Evesham at £91.40 can be used on Hereford departure at 06:43, arriving at Paddington at 09:47.
Yes, 'quite early' were the words used, and OP must decide whether that is early enough.

I'd like to travel as title - have looked and found £136.50 (think that was it from memory, did it last night)
I have also followed some of Martin's advice ie splitting jorney, 4 single tickets etc but got a bit lost with it all..........any input greatly appreciated.

There is no £80 fare - don't know how you arrive at one.

£70.50 off peak return, leaving Manchester by any train after 0930 and Staines after 1730. Through to Staines. Route London. Buy on the day.

Manchester 0935, Staines 1307 with tube transfer Euston to Vauxhall included

You may be able to shave a bit off it on later trains from Staines using advance singles.

Thanks for that, better late than never! That's what I ended up getting so thanks for that :)

That's the walk on off peak fare you have found - you can buy it on the day at that price. Change at Worcester and Birmingham and possibly ANO between Brum and Aberdeen.

A quick look shows there are advance fares - but they add up to more than that return fare so no point in buying them.

My gut feeling is that you won't better it with split fares - its not impossible, but unlikely. Obvious ones I've checked don't save anything.

    Sorry.

Thank you.......appreciate your effort in looking.
I know I have to change at Worcester, B/ham New St and again at Haymarket. I did as I said try to split but singles all added up to sameish/more. Did also find flights for £19 each way but as usual + taxes/luggage it came out around the same as well. (Plus airport parking/fuel!) Will probably go with that then.

There is the potential to do the journey for less by rail - but the cheaper fares are more likely to be available midweek than Fri/Sat

    Hi,

i am looking for some help to find the cheapest fare to go from leigh on sea to tunbridge wells this weekend (saturday to sunday)

I can find a return for £30, but looking at the london area covered by the travel card (which costs £12.90), do i just pick the first station outside that (i think its sevenoaks - depending on route but how do you know) and get 2 singles / return from there plus a travel card for each way?

If so - how do i get the travel card in kent, or does that cover a wider area?

    thanks

    jim

    Hi,

I finally booked my advance tickets from Milton Keynes to Blackpool North. We got the advance fare with a friend and family discount.

However we have just tried to book a 2nd set of tickets for my friend so we can all go together, but the advance fare won't come up on the same train. Does this mean we bought the last advance fare for that train. Or we can't do it on the same computer (cookies?) or will more advance fares become available?

There is an advance fare on a later train, however we need to travel together to use the Freinds and Family card!

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you

    Sarah:D
