Have traded in a few phones, but am surprised at the low value of the Nokia 3210

The 3310 is only marginally a better phone but sells for approx 20 times as much!

  • After hearing Martin's advice on recycling old mobile phones on Radio 2 recently, I contacted Envirophone and gathered together three old handsets. My first thought when the pre-paid envelope arrived in the post was that it wouldn't take long for some dishonest postal worker to realise padded envelopes with Envirphone printed accross them were likely to contain mobile phones.

However, I put this negative thought aside and decided instead, to concentrate on the £96 cheque I was going to receive.

Four weeks and three phone calls later, no cheque has arrived and perhaps more importantly, no phones arrived at Envirophone.

My suggestion to Envirophone - provide us with plain envelopes and make it possible just to use the company address rather than the name when sending in the phones.

    Mopay suggest a similar route.

They say send it freepost Mopay in a padded envelope. I am sceptical. I have sent the phones off to someone to unlock them. Whilst I trust him (wouldn't have sent them otherwise) I'm a little wary of the PO, as the address does give an indication as to what they may be. So they went special delivery - insured for up to £500 for the whole lot and I got change out of £6 one way.

I've asked him to return them via the same an included the funds to facilitate this.

OP - if you have the IMEI nos report them as stolen with the networks then hey'll become useless.

Only send off phones normal delivery if you don't mind losing out... I sent off three phones that were worthless to get my £35... Anything over this amount and it would have gone recorded :T

YEs mine where pretty worthless too, but dd manage to get £45 out of them, it does take a while though, quite long process i have found from begining to end.
  • I sent four phones too envirofone in the envelopes they supplied, not recorded and all got there ok. Admittedly it did take around 6 weeks from sending the phones until I got issued with the cheques.

Trade-in of first 2 mobile 'phones in a single package was text book. However, further attempts to trade other 'phones, plus requests for additional envelopes, result in no envelopes being received. My address is correct. Guess my business is not wanted.

Although Envirofone send you a pre-paid envelope they too suggest sending by signed for delivery.

Which kind of defeats the object of having a freepost envelope.

I took a chance and I was lucky, but I did think at the time that the packaging did smack of "Steal Me!".

I sent a very old nokia to envirofone a couple of weeks ago in the normal freepost envelope. I received an email to say that they had received it but have not heared anything else. There website still shows waiting to receive!

Where as i sent my samsung d500 to mobile2cash.co.uk on 28th June, got an email to say that they had received it on 30th June and that my payment would be made: phones recieved between 16th of month and 31st get pai on the 5th of the following month straight into your bank account! I should get paid tomorrow all going well!

I have sent a phone in to envirofone but sent it recorded WITH the freepost address on - at the post office I had money refunded because of the freepost address and the package ended up costing me 66p to send....
  • I have been trying to get in contcat with Envirofone since Friday afternoon. I went to Argos and wanted to use the £16 something that I had collected from 3 phones that I had sent them. I have only actually been creditied fotr 1 phone @ £4 something! I have emailed and no reply and I have called their customer services number and its just making a tone noise. On Friday it kept saying "the other person has cleared"! I am short £12 and I know it is not alot of money but it is mine. Anyone any ideas on what I can do?
