None of that really appeals to me (not stuff i was fed as a kid), but would still be interested to see and learn. Is Veal cheap then? Im quite scared and uneducated in red meat. Scared of fishy fish too. Lamb is ok ..... but i thought it was dear, so i wonder what else they do with that?

I personally don't like veal it is too soft for me and it is expensive plus I couldn't eat a baby cow with those big brown eyes.

No, i dont like associating the animal with the food where possible. I do strggle with the principe of eating meat sometimes.

I remember when we were kids, driving past a field full of little sheep, when my brother said something about how he would love lamb chops for dinner. My Mum nearly crashed the car! :rotfl:

Thanks for the linky, I am guessing it is a form of tinned tomatoes, only sexed up?
At least you can admit it :rotfl:

I always thought it takes a smarter person to ask, rather than pretend they know! What's the point in that?! I am ok with occasionally looking stupid:D

Had a look on the economy gastronomy page and the result is........................
spicy lamb shish kebab, veal ratatouille, fish pie, and meatball-and-chorizo stew

I presume you mean this is next week's recipes? and not a burger in sight! :D I'll be interested in Allegra's take on fish pie though. Isn't it funny how we think about meat, I couldn't eat veal either, thinking of those sweet little calves, and yet I enjoy lamb ;)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

Not being arkward here, but in the winter its darkish when I leave (7.45am) & dark when I get home (5.30) & its like that for a couple of months.

Since when was 5.30 late? I leave before you in the morning and am never back till gone 9pm. I'd love to do cushy hours like yours :p

    nowt for us then :(

Shame, as I was hoping to use it to kick-start my 18 year-old into cooking. He'd happily live on grilled sausages and/or beef flavoured savoury rice !!!

Yes it will be interesting don't you think? Evidently they have been eating Microwave meals and junk food all at different times - but as My DD says it is an initiation into student life (she went to uni for a year then dropped out even though she passed her first year -sadly because she had too many problems with the student loans people they didn't pay her fees in time and she was locked out of a lot of her studies nor did they pay her living allowances on time - too much pressure on top of trying to get a degree - But happily she is starting a new degree course next year so she hasn't wasted her time, at least she knows what to expect now)
I digress - let's face it, the budget should be more to a normal family's expenditure and I am looking forward to it.

Mmm, I had veal escalopes when we went to France when I was about 9! It was delicious. I haven't had it since as not really sure what to do with it...I can't say a ratatouille sounds very appealing but i'll wait and see what they do with it.

Not anywhere I've seen it..... but I won't eat it anyway because of the way it used to be produced. I know that the animal conditions are supposed to have improved, but I still don't think it's humane. I may not be able to afford to buy organic and/or free range, but I can certainly afford to veto those I personally don't agree with.

Actually meant I had to go vegetarian for a lot of my honeymoon - I didn't discover until after we arrived in Italy that, where a recipe calls for mince, they use veal as a norm
