  • Have now sent them 4 letters altogether - but the next one has just arrived saying I am not responding to them and they will be taking me to court - This is from yet another person. I don't know what to do next!

    Hettie xx

Hi Hettie - just a quick flying visit I'm afraid as am at work and might get the sack!

Really annoys me when banks etc do things like this - makes you wonder why you bother trying in the first place. I get it all the time at work with the Tax Office (:mad::mad:)

I suggest you ring Nationwide and ask to speak to a manager and not just one of the call centre monkeys, then explain that you have been replying to all their letters but have now received a threatening letter stating that they have had no responses from you. Ask the person on the phone who exactly you should respond to - then write to that person enclosing copies of all previous letters sent. If I were you - I would get a bit narky in your letter (this sometimes put the willies up them if they realise that you're not a walk over) and put in your letter that if you continue to receive such a poor service from them, then you will be writing to their complaints department (this usually does the trick). Take a note of the name of the person you spoke to on the phone - then if you ring again - you can ask to be put straight through to them - even better - ask for a direct line telephone number.

Hope all goes well at the Hospital, and I'm sure hubby and the rest of the family wouldn't be to keen on the idea of you being put down......maybe just put you out to grass for a bit ;);)

  • Good luck Hettiecaro, you sound such a lovely lady, your great personality shines through your posts. I have been following your story and am really rooting for you. I so understand what you mean about energetic days and washed out days (as I call them). I can get loads done some days and then on others all I can do is sleep. I have to have "Work focused" interviews as a condition of my ESA benefit and have one tomorrow. Anyway less about me, really hope hospital goes as well as possible.

    Hi yellowduck.
It sounds as though you are having a rough time of it too. PLEASE don't say 'less about me'. You need support the same as I do.:grouphug:. Hope the interview goes O.K. Let me know. How long have you been ill?
If you want to PM me at any time I am here for you - if I'm not in bed! .:rotfl:

    DFW's - HELP PLEASE!
I went to the hospital yesterday. They are now talking about me being BiPolar - GREAT  - it's only taken them about 35 years to reach this conclusion!!!!!
Being fair, they were very supportive. I am seeing a different pychiatrist next month.

They are also putting me in touch with a mental health 'Advocate' who will negotiate and deal with my creditors on my behalf.

I received a default notice from Nationwide as I said - demanding full repayment of personal loan.

I have put the following letter together to them. If any of you gurus have any thoughts on it I would appreciate your comments before sending.

    Clare Fortune - Senior Manager
    Personal Loans Collections
    Nationwide Building Society
    NN3 6NW
    Dear Ms Fortune
    Personal Loan a/c xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Thank you for your letter of 21st September. Can you please clarify if I should correspond with you, William Brown or James Tipler in the future to avoid any confusion or duplication. I have letters from each of you.

I am concerned that despite 4 previous letters (all recorded delivery) I have had NO specific response to my correspondence, and yet you constantly send me letters saying I am not responding. I am currently receiving psychiatric treatment at the hospital. I have been put in touch with a mental health advocate who I have an appointment with shortly and will contact you on my behalf. When I have full details I shall forward my authorisation for her/him to act on my behalf.

I am also sending a copy of this, together with all my previous correspondence to the Financial Ombudsman as I feel that under the circumstances even though you are fully appraised of my financial circumstance you are ignoring my attempts to communicate with you in writing. I will continue to send the token goodwill payment of £1.00. You are fully aware from my financial statement that I have no more to offer. I have taken advice from CCCS and also Citizens Advice Bureau. The advice has been the same in both cases – make the token payment.

There is little else I can add at this stage. I do however need to re-iterate once more, that due to my current medical state I find it difficult to engage in telephone conversations and that is why I have asked that you please communicate with me in writing. This is not designed to avoid this issue, but rather that I can get help from my Son to respond to you properly. Please respond to this specific letter.

Should I not get a response I will escalate this as a complaint through your internal complaints procedures before referring it formally to the Financial Ombudsman for intervention.

I look forward to hearing from you.
    Yours Faithfully,
    xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Any comments will be much appreciated.

  • Yeay go you!!

I think the letter sounds great and very confident. Makes the point that you are doing everything in your power to sort things out and they are useless and rubbish - hooray!

Glad to hear that the hospital have given you some clearer answers. Do you feel slightly easier now that you know what you are dealing with?

That's fantastic about having an 'advocate' to act on your behalf with the creditors. I hope that takes a lot of the stress off you so you can start concentrating on yourself a bit more. Just a shame that they weren't so helpful a bit earlier on - but hey, the importat thing is that it's getting sorted now.

My boyf and I are also new members of the 'we hate Nationwide fan club' - it's not only you they are screwing around so don't take it personally ;)

Hope all goes well with the new Pychiatrist next month, like I said, at least now you know what you're working with. Will they offer you any CBT? I'm quite interested in things like that, it's something I wish I'd got into instead of Accountancy - which reminds me - better do some work!

Hope you are now feeling happier and that the light at the end of the tunnel is getting closer.

    SEND THE LETTER!!! :j:j:j:j

  • Hey Hettie. Glad the appointment went well and they seem to have found out what the problem is. Hope the next appointment goes well as well and they can offer you some help to even things out a bit and to help you cope.
The letter sounds fab - just a bit confused you say you are sending it to the Financial Ombudsman and then say if they can't sort it you will be sending it to the finacial ombudsman - maybe one or the other? ie either you are now or you will later - 'tis a little confusing but apart from that it is a great letter. Hope they can sort themselves out.

You are right. Maybe I should remove the bit saying I'm sending it now and see how they respond first.

    Will adjust it now.
