if they were home around 8-9pm then I may consider it but I'd probably still say no!

Soappie did you come on a Thursday - it's the flea [STRIKE]pit[/STRIKE] market then and tat abounds...

From memory, we popped in on a Tuesday I think and another day - may have been Thursday. But I did love the black and white timbered buildings and things on the surrounds. And I did buy a jacket/parker thing for £25 which I still wear to walk the dog occasionally.

What amused me as we went there on the first day was the no parking cones. There's that twisted spire on the cathedral which dominates the skyline as you drive in from Clay Cross way. There were roadworks at the time and a load of cones out. For a good 100 yards all the cones had similar twists in them and were all crooked :D

ooh I have a dilemma - your thoughts please.

DD (13-and-a-half) has been invited to a sleepover at her friends, Friend has a big brother 14/15 and a really sensible lad who I get on with. Dilemma is both mum and mum's OH will be at work, on nights so the kids will be in on their own. Now I KNOW they ARE all sensible kids ...
    thoughts please?

My thoughts - live dangerously. We can be far too protective at times. There are some decent kids out there...

Soappie Yes I got my bus pass.

Make sure you use it fully and well! :D

Greenbee - your rant about the bank. I fear there is no such thing anymore as customer service. Remember I mentioned booking an MOT test earlier? Well, I phoned my usual garage (the one that screwed up on the headlamp thing but which I forgave them for) and asked for a quote for an MOT. I was put on hold. Young lady came back and said sorry, the department was busy with a customer could they call me back.

I said yes, as long as it was within the hour. Nothing happened within the hour so I did some research and booked an MOT test with Kwikfit online for £35 for Weds.

Had a couple more phone calls this afternoon and checked the answerphone about 5pm. Seems the garage had called back about 3pm (when I was on another call) and said "Hello Mrs Soappie, the quote for your service is £550.00"

I feel a letter to their head office coming on!

I am siding with Soappie a bit BUT even DD herself knows why I am doubtful (and at least they had the decency to let me know no adults are present) and I am CERTAINLY going to ask their dad (exOH) to see what he thinks...I have told her to let me think about it and she is more than happy with that. It's a big ask.

ETA re the lists - defo have decluttered 5 things then - about 50 times actually LOL

    re tomorrows list
Master bedroom and landing - well this is what I did on Sunday so I am NOT going to do it again on Tuesday.
I might clean the living room 3 teens + 3 days = 1 mess (but NO dirt)
and I could do some of my super summer master list - well I could go and buy whatever I am going to slap on the fence...and do some WORK work.

Sorry Valli but my thoughts are with the others who said no way, no matter how sensible they are. I wouldnt allow my DS to stay at his Dad's house if he was going to be on his own until after his 16th birthday. Hope you find the right decision for you and yours.

Ok I have updated all my finances and completed all the emails etc I needed to do, paid all the outstanding bills I had to, including paying more off on my credit card than I've been billed so that it will be clear next month as well - woo go me thats a first but if I dont pay it now I might spend the money.

Now to go fly in the kitchen

ETA - Sorry boddy didnt realise it was your birthday - hope you had a grand day x
